When Paula saw me, the shock on her face quickly turned into sheer panic.
“lan, stop her!” she screamed, her voice trembling.
I glanced at her coldly and calmly opened the box in my hands.
“Ah!” Gasps and cries rippled through the audience as the contents of the box were revealed.
The screen displayed the fragile, blue–gray body of my unborn child.
Paula let out a blood–curdling scream and flung herself into lan’s arms. She wailed hysterically, “lan, she’s cursing Lloyd! She’s cursing my baby because her own child is gone! Get her out of here!”
lan’s face turned ashen. He pushed Paula away and stumbled toward me. His eyes locked on the tiny form in the
box, his hands trembling as he reached out to touch my stomach.
As his hand rested on me, realization dawned in his widening eyes. His lips quivered as he whispered, “Wife…
our child…”
I slammed the box shut with a deafening bang and spat out my words with icy precision.
“lan, you abandoned me for her. You killed your child with your own hands.”
He collapsed onto the floor with a heavy thud, shaking his head in denial. His voice broke as he muttered, “No…
- no. It was an accident. It wasn’t supposed to happen.”
I let out a bitter laugh, tears streaming freely down my face.
“An accident? Why don’t you tell everyone why you just happened to meet Paula at the gas station? Do you dare
to speak the truth, lan?”
His head snapped up, his expression betraying a flicker of guilt.
I placed the box gently on the table and pulled out my phone.
Paula’s face turned ghostly pale as I tapped on her Instagram profile. She lunged at me, screeching, “Stop!
Don’t!”
But I sidestepped her easily.
The next moment, Paula’s voice filled the banquet hall, echoing through the speakers.
“Sherrie, lan has been tired of you for a long time. Honestly, we agreed to meet at the gas station that day. If it weren’t for me, he wouldn’t have even come home for New Year’s.”
“Oh, and by the way, where do you think he was when your baby died and you were lying in the hospital?”
“He was running errands for me, of course. And let me tell you, he still had plenty of energy to keep me up all
night. Hehe, does he do that with you too?”
The hall fell into oppressive silence.
Paula’s eyes darted wildly as she shrieked and bolted for the door, shoving people out of her way.

I stood on the stage, watching her flee in disgrace. But even as she disappeared from view, I felt no satisfaction- just an empty ache in my chest.
Whispers and murmurs swirled around me.
“Paula, a homewrecker? And lan caused his own wife to lose their baby?”
“That guy’s a complete scumbag. Did you see that photo earlier? Who knows if Lloyd is even his kid!”
lan, still on the stage, finally seemed to recover from the shock. His red, tear–filled eyes fixed on me.
I stared him down coldly, pulled a neatly folded paper from my bag, and threw it in his face.
“lan, I’m done. Let’s divorce.”
His eyes widened in disbelief. He scrambled to his feet and clutched at my hand.
“Wife, you can’t be serious. I won’t sign! I’m not agreeing to this!”
Revulsion twisted my expression as I yanked my hand free.
“Don’t touch me. I can’t stand the thought of it–it’s disgusting.”
His face flushed red with rage, then paled again as he snapped, “Isn’t this enough? Haven’t you embarrassed me enough today? It was just a mistake–a mistake all men make! Other women forgive their husbands, so why do you have to break up the family?”
My breath caught in my throat, disbelief crashing over me like a tidal wave.
Did I break up the family?
My remaining composure shattered.
I grabbed him by the collar, shaking him violently as my voice cracked with anguish.
“Mistake? That so–called mistake cost our child’s life!”
“Why should I forgive you? Do you think you deserve it, lan? Do you think you’re worthy?”

Tears streaked down my face as my voice rose, sharp and raw, cutting through the suffocating silence.
The audience sat in stunned quiet, but after a few seconds, someone stood and began to hurl curses. Others
quickly joined in, a chorus of condemnation raining down on lan.
I didn’t spare him another glance. Turning on my heel, I walked away from the chaos with my head held high.
