COG

Adrian’s POV

You lied to me!My voice thundered through the room, the sound echoing off the walls as I slammed my fists against the table

Carmela stood across from me, her arms folded, defiant despite the tears streaming down her face. I was helping you, Adrian!she shouted. You wanted an heir, and I made it happen!”

I glared at her, my chest heaving. That wasn’t my child, Carmela! You used me! You betrayed me!”

I did it for you!she insisted, her voice cracking. You couldn’t have children, Adrian! I was just trying to give you what you needed without Felicity knowing it! Can you not appreciate what I had done instead of getting mad? I also lost everything because of this fucking scandal!”

Her words hit me like a blow, but not for the reasons she intended. I had believed her lies, trusted her deceit, and

everything was crumbling because of it

You think that justifies lying to me? Manipulating me?I spat, stepping closer. You’ve destroyed everything.”

Carmela’s resolve faltered, and she softened her tone

Adrian, listen to me. We can fix this. But first, we need to deal with Felicity”

Felicity is dead,I said coldly, my voice hollow. Can’t you see? She’s lying in a coffin right now because of you and your schemes. Well, it was both of fault.I tasted bitterness upon saying that

I never meant for all of this to happen

Carmela shook her head as her hands trembled. No, she’s not. I don’t believe it. She faked her death, Adrian

know it.”

I let out a bitter laugh. Do you hear yourself? Felicity’s gone. She’s not coming back.”

If you won’t help me find her,she snapped, her eyes narrowing, I’ll do it myself and make sure she’ll pay for killing my child!”

He Dient and egged then to Late

She stormed out of the room, her heels clicking angrily against the floor. I didn’t try to stop her

The silence after she left was suffocating. I stood there, staring at the empty space where she had been

For the first time in days, I let myself look at the coffin in the corner of the room. Felicity

The woman I had neglected, betrayed, and taken for granted

I stepped closer, my hand hovering over the smooth wood. I’m sorry,I whispered, my voice breaking

But something didn’t feel right. The body inside the coffin was barely bruised, the face almost untouched. It didn’t add up for a crash as catastrophic as hers. Doubts gnawed at the edges of my mind, but I shook them off

Stop imagining things,” I muttered to myself. She’s gone.”

Yet the nagging feeling wouldn’t go away

I picked up my phone and called one of my men

lordered. I want every

Reinvestigate the crash,no matter how small.”

Yes, sir,came the quick reply

The next few days passed in a blur. The media was relentless, twisting every angle of Felicity’s disappearance and the fallout with Carmela. My company was hanging by a thread. Investors were backing out, employees were resigning, and every project we’d worked on was slipping through my fingers

Desperation pushed me to comb through Felicity’s files, hoping to salvage something. That’s when I found it- the deal she had been working on. The project that could’ve saved Rose Corporation

the

It wasn’t ours anymore. She had handed it over to Hans Ward

My blood boiled as I stared at the confirmation email. Felicity had given everything to my rival. My anger flared as pieces started to come together. Had she been working with Hans all along? Was this her revenge

I didn’t think. I grabbed my keys and drove straight to Hans Ward’s office

I didn’t bother knocking. I pushed open the heavy doors, the sound startling Hans as he looked up from his desk

Adrian,he said smoothly, leaning back in his chair. To what do I owe the pleasure?”

Where is she?I demanded, my voice sharp and unwavering

Hans raised an eyebrow, feigning confusion. Who?”

Don’t play games with me,I snapped, slamming my fists on his desk. Felicity. She gave you the deal. She must be alive, and you’re hiding her.”

Hans chuckled, clearly enjoying my outburst. Adrian, didn’t you bury her already? Or are you questioning your own grief?”

My hands clenched into fists. She’s not dead. I know she’s not. Where is she?”

I wasn’t surebut maybe Carmela was right. If not, who was doing everything behind this right nowor was she planned this all along

Hans stood slowly, adjusting his tie as a smirk spread across his face. What if I told you she’s peacefully sleeping in my bed right now? What would you do then?”

The words sent a red haze over my vision. I didn’t thinkI lunged, my fist connecting with his jaw

Hans stumbled back, laughing even as he wiped the blood from his lip. Ah, so you do still care,he said

mockingly

I stood there, chest heaving, my mind spinning with anger and confusion. And I hated that Hans might be right.
