G4
The smell of damp concrete and rust filled my nostrils as I came to, my head pounding. My wrists ached where they were tied, and the faint hum of voices echoed around me. Slowly, I opened my eyes, squinting against the dim light of a flickering bulb overhead.
It didn’t take long for the fear to set in.
On the wall across from me, a faded yet unmistakable logo stared back–a mafia crest I’d only heard about in hushed whispers. My stomach churned. It wasn’t just a baseless rumor. Adrian had joined the mafia.
I screamed for help, the sound reverberating off the walls of the warehouse. My voice cracked, but I didn’t stop until the door creaked open.
Adrian stepped inside, his presence darker than I remembered. A tattoo of the mafia’s symbol wound up his arm, stark against his pale skin. He looked unhinged, his eyes gleaming with something I couldn’t recognize anymore.
“Adrian,” I said, my voice trembling. “What is this? Why are you doing this?”
He laughed, cold and hollow. “Why? Because of you, Felicity. You ruined me. You turned my life into hell.”

He Cried and Begged When is too late
“I didn’t force you to join a mafia,” I shot back, my fear briefly overtaken by anger.
His smirk deepened. “No, but you drove me here. If you hadn’t betrayed me–if you’d just come back to me when I begged–none of this would’ve happened. You chose Hans over me. You sent me to prison. You destroyed my life.”
I shook my head, tears brimming in my eyes. “You did that to yourself, Adrian. You cheated, lied, and used me. Don’t blame me for your mistakes.”
His jaw clenched, but then he leaned closer, his voice softening in a way that made my skin crawl. “We could’ve had everything. Felicity. But now? Now you’ll stay here, with me, where you belong. If I can’t have you, no one will.
My stomach turned as Adrian forced me to sit at a table where a makeshift meal was spread out. He tried to be
sweet, coaxing me to eat. I spat on him instead, glaring defiantly.
“You’re pathetic,” I hissed. “Even if you keep me here, I’ll never love you. Never.”
His façade cracked. Adrian’s hand lashed out, striking me across the face. I gasped, reeling from the blow as tears stung my eyes. “You’ll learn,” he muttered darkly before storming out, leaving me alone in the cold, suffocating
silence.
The next day felt endless. Every second stretched painfully as I wracked my brain for a way out. Adrian hovered around me like a storm cloud, desperate for my attention, like a crazy man! He was the same with Carmela now.
I knew I had to act.
That evening, during another forced meal, I made my move. The moment Adrian glanced away, I grabbed the fork and drove it into his side with all the strength I could muster.
He screamed, stumbling back in pain as I bolted for the door. My heart pounded in my chest as I pushed through the warehouse’s exit, the cold night air biting my skin.
“Stop her!” Adrian’s voice roared behind me
I didn’t stop. I couldn’t.
Shots rang out, and a searing pain tore through my arm. I stumbled but kept running, clutching the bleeding
wound as adrenaline kicked me forward.
“Don’t kill her!” Adrian shouted. “Just catch her!”
The warehouse faded into the distance as the men closed in. My breaths came in ragged gasps, and the edges of my vision blurred. I was slowing down, and I knew I wouldn’t make it much farther.
Suddenly, more gunshots echoed in the distance, but this time, they weren’t aimed at me. The men chasing me fell, one by one, confusion spreading through their ranks.
him.
I dropped to my knees, too weak to move, and braced myself for the inevitable.
Then I saw him.
Hans emerged from the chaos. My vision blurred further as tears filled my eyes, my heart lurching at the sight of
“Hans,” I whispered, my voice barely audible.
He didn’t hesitate. He scooped me into his arms. “I’ve got you,” he murmured, his voice steady despite the chaos
around us.
Relief washed over me as I clung to him, my tears soaking into his shirt. “I thought…”
“You’re safe now,” he interrupted, his words a promise as the world faded and darkness claimed me.
