Chapter 98
Nora suddenly opened her eyes when she realized she was the one in the video I played. She jolted up with her face red, shaking her head furiously.
“What is the meaning of this, Nora?” Samuel’s voice was low and filled with doubt.
“It’s not me! I don’t know how that bitch did it but it’s not me, Samuel. Believe me, it’s not me!” Nora started crying again when she was supposed to be fainted due to asthma.
Looking back on the past, it was a coincidence that I managed to record the video. It was when Samuel embarrassed me in the mall so I told Penny about it. After listening to my sentiments, Penny brought me to the club to relax. I was hesitant at first but at some point, I felt better after seeing a lot of people having the time of their life.
That was when I saw Nora fervently dancing on the dancefloor. She was like a wild hyena in heat, surrounded by hot men who touched her body as they danced.
Nora was wearing heavy makeup and a skintight sexy dress but I knew it was her at one glance. She was yelling and cheering too, enjoying the attention she got from the guys around. I recognized her voice amidst the crowd. I couldn’t believe it at first so I took a video, zooming in my camera to capture her laughing face while making out with strangers.
“Why are you doing this to me, Juliet? If you’re jealous because of the attention that Samuel gave me compared to you, then tell him. You don’t have to make up this lie just to shame me,” Nora sobbed, covering her eyes.
“I’m not making up things, Nora. It’s up to you whether you admit to doing this or not. But you can’t fool me by faking an asthma attack and fainting so you could blame me for the drama you started,” I said, looking bravely at her. “Samuel also deserves to know that you no longer have frequent asthma attacks. You’re only using your poor health as an excuse to keep him close to you.”
Samuel looked at me in disbelief. “Is what you’re saying the truth, Juliet?”
Nodding my head, I faced him. “It is. If you’re not convinced, ask Nora.”
“I can’t believe this. Why didn’t you tell me earlier? You knew that she was deceiving me but you stayed quiet about it!” Samuel grabbed his hair in frustration.}
I sneered. “Why are you blaming me, Samuel? Will you even listen when I say something related to Nora? I know that you’re not going to believe me so I said nothing.”
“But you should have tried!” Samuel yelled, his veins popping on his neck.
“Samuel, it’s not true. She’s only trying to make you hate me. My asthma still bothers me and you know how much I suffered every time I had an attack. I won’t joke about my illness,” Nora butted in, convincing Samuel to listen to her.
To my bewilderment, Samuel glared at Nora and yelled, “SHUT UP!”
Nora and everybody else were shocked when Samuel raised his voice. He used to keep a calm and gentle image in the public. Finally, he showed his true colors.
“Don’t you dare appear in front of me again, Nora. Otherwise, I wouldn’t know what I’d do to you!” After giving Nora a warning, Samuel left the hall.
The banquet hadn’t ended yet but everyone seemed satisfied at the scene they all witnessed and left.
Since that day, Nora has become the center of gossip in high society. She became the laughingstock of both men and women, especially those who witnessed what happened.
As for me, I continued working under Vincent’s company. My life was slowly going back to normal without Samuel and Nora around. “Juliet, what do you think about working abroad?” Vincent asked me after calling me in his office. “This is sudden but if you’re interested, I want to bring you along with me to take care of the company matters abroad. So, are you coming with me?“}
I couldn’t find the right words to say so I simply nodded my head as a response.
Vincent flashed a sweet smile. “Great!”
