Chapter 9 The Truth Unveiled
Quinn placed the cup down sharply, the glass making a soft yet distinct clink against the table.
Olive, humiliated by this act, glared at Quinn with venomous eyes, her gaze like poison.
Quinn, equally defiant, returned the stare. Three years ago, when you sent me to prison. I was already broken.”
Her voice was quiet but cold, and it held a sharp edge.
Betty, who had been watching Quinn transform before her eyes, was taken aback, a sense of fear creeping over her.
This time, she didn’t rush to Olive’s side. Instead, she softly spoke, “Quinny, what’s going on with you today?”
She stepped forward, reaching out for Quinn’s hand.
Quinn subtly avoided her touch, her gaze resolute. “I want to see Grandpa.”
Xavier helped the still–crying Olive up, his every movement radiating tenderness.
Then, he glared at Quinn, his voice venomous. “Impossible! Grandpa would never want to see you, his venomous granddaughter!”
“Xavier, for all these years you’ve done nothing of value. What good are you, really?” Quinn’s words hit like a slap.
Xavier, who had coasted on the family’s wealth for years, was enraged at being insulted by someone he looked down upon. “You’re talking nonsense!”
Betty, wanting to intervene, was stopped by Quinn’s icy glare.
“Mom, you only ever remember Olive, never the daughter named Quinn, Quinn’s voice was detached, though the words. were laden with sorrow, her expression remained unfazed.
“I haven’t! I’ve always been paying attention to you, Betty responded, desperately reaching for Quinn,
Quinn let out a bitter laugh and began walking toward the door. “You won’t let me see Grandpa? I’ll find another way. But we’ll never have to see each other again after this.”
At her words, Xavier’s tense expression softened, and he looked up at her, alarmed. “What do you mean? You’re cutting ties with us?”
Betty, rare for her, panicked. “Sweetie, it’s my fault for not taking better care of you these years. You just got out of prison, and now you want to leave? What will people think of the Fairchild family?”
Olive, now with her hair neatly styled, put on her usual pitiful face. “Colton’s company is in a crucial period. If you cut ties with us now, won’t that affect the company…?”
Quinn turned her head, sneering. She had expected their pleas to be for their image and business, not out of genuine care.
I’m disgusted by your hypocritical faces”
Every second in this place was unbearable–a mother who always picked sides, brothers who didn’t think straight, a sister who loved to play the victim, and a father who always tried to smooth things over, all while she was broken beyond repair.
“Quinn, how could you say that? The Fairchild family has raised you all these years, and this is how you repay us?” Xavier glared at her, unwilling to let her cause trouble now. If she ruined Colton’s business, his pocket money would stop.
Seeing this, Xavier softened his tone, trying to ease the tension. “Alright, I admit I spoke harshly this morning. Don’t take it personally.”

But Quinn spoke before he could touch her. “I never thought your mouth could say anything reasonable. Truly, what a surprise.”
Xavier’s smile froze on his face as Quinn swiftly grabbed the milk from the table and splashed it toward him.
Reacting instinctively. Xavier turned his head to avoid the milk, but his expensive suit was ruined.
The cold, wet sensation made Xavier seethe with rage. He tensed his neck and raised his hand to strike.
Years of prison life had sharpened her reflexes. Quinn swiftly grabbed his wrist, her mocking smile clear in his eyes
Who do you think you are? You think just because you speak. I’ll bow to you? This cup of milk is just a welcome gifi, Xavier”
She spoke his name softly, but her tone was heavy with weight.
Then, Quinn forcefully released his hand and turned to leave.
“Quinn. I’m going to kill you!” Olive’s shrill voice rang out from behind, and Quinn felt Olive charging at her with a fruit
knife.
Quinn dodged, but the blade still scraped her hair.
The years of resentment exploded in this moment. Quinn grabbed a handful of Olive’s hair and yanked.
“Ah!” Olive screamed, dropping the knife and clutching her head, trying to protect her scalp from being torn. “Quinn, let go! You crazy woman!”
Quinn didn’t hold back. She stared down at the beautiful woman in front of her, her expression cold and vicious.
It all started with Olive. Quinn had wanted to get along with Olive from the start and never intended to take everything from her.
She just wanted a family. Just one family.
Olive refused to give her that, and the Fairchild family refused to accept her. So, what was left for her to cling to?
In the struggle, Olive looked up and saw the deep, cold fury in Quinn’s eyes. She froze, stunned.
She had never seen such a terrifying expression on Quinn’s face before, as if, in the next moment, Quinn would snap her
Leck.
Little did Olive know, Quinn had become this way because of her. To survive, Quinn had been forced to transform,
Before Xavier and Betty could reach them, Quinn leaned in close to Olive’s ear and whispered, “Olive, I don’t care about your things. If you dare touch mine, I’ll take your life?
With that, she forcefully shoved Olive to the ground, sidestepping the oncoming Xavier and Betty, and stormed out.
Behind her, Xavier’s furious shout echoed, “Quinn, if you leave this door, don’t ever come back!”
At the sound of his words, Quinn’s pace quickened.
She didn’t know how long she ran, but eventually, she stopped at a corner, silent tears streaming down her face.
She tightly hugged herself, seeking warmth, allowing herself this one moment of indulgence. From this day forward, the Fairchild family and she were finished.
On the top floor of the Grant family building, the large floor–to–ceiling windows bathed the room in silvery moonlight.
Zayden, wearing a black shirt with a meticulously tied navy tie, had carelessly discarded his jacket on the floor.

Finally, unable to watch any longer, Zayden slammed the tablet face down on the table, his hands pressing against his forehead as he struggled to calm his turbulent emotions.
The video displayed Quinn’s condition during her three years in prison. It was clear now that everything she had said at the dinner table was true.
The first few days after entering prison, she cried for three days, calling for her family. Then, she naively believed that if the treated others well, they would return her kindness.
When a group of female inmates got drunk after stealing a boule of alcohol, they were curious about what it would be like to stab someone in the chest. They used Quinn as a target, stabbing her in the chest.
When they realized they had caused serious harm, none of them warned Quinn. They all fled in fear.
Weak and small, Quinn managed to call the Fairchild family for help.
Watching Quinn repeatedly dial the phone with hope in her eyes, she finally received the response. “Co die.”
In the video, Quinn’s shoulders trembled violently. After several minutes of contemplation, she slowly dragged her exhausted body outside.
Instead of reporting the incident, she claimed it was an accident.
The women, seeing she didn’t report them, knew she was too scared.
They escalated their torment of her, further and further.
