No matter how tough her opponent, Regina always found a way to win.
It was only when she had her opponent pinned to the ground, her hand raised in victory, the announcer shouting her name, and the fans chanting in unison that Regina felt a flicker of happiness.
In her past life, she’d been vulnerable to attack because she was still recovering from a recent fight, injured and feverish.
But when Irene had suggested a trip, Regina had taken fever reducers and gone along, and that’s when she died.
Regina had always imagined dying in the ring, amidst the roar of the crowd.
Instead, she died because of her real parents‘ biased choices.
Regina looked at Hugh with disdain.
‘Emotions are bullshit, she thought.
Hugh Mitchell felt uncomfortable under her gaze and snapped, “How can you be happy surrounded by fake people with no real emotions?”
Regina paused, then burst into laughter. “Happy? That’s not the word I’d use.”
She smirked like a villain. “It’s absolutely thrilling to be worshipped by crowds. A nobody like you wouldn’t understand.”
Hugh and Brad were stunned speechless.
Clive remained silent.
Liam Hayes watched Regina walk away with newfound interest.
Stephen Hayes’s eyes lit up with excitement. “She nailed it. She knows exactly how powerful she is.”
Liam glanced at the surveillance footage on his phone. “She has no cyberware, yet she dared to block bullets with a titanium sword without body modifications; of course she’d known her real strength.”
Regina suddenly turned toward their direction.
Stephen and Liam quickly ducked into a corner.
Thinking it was just her imagination, Regina happily picked up her mountain of gifts and left.
Hugh’s blood pressure spiked as he called after her, “Keep pretending, Regina! You’ll slip up just like Melinda did.”
Regina turned back with a smile. “Everything I do is positive. I never do harm, never speak ill of others. People are lucky to have me in their lives. What’s there to slip up about?”
Hugh stood there speechless, watching her leave.
He clutched his chest. The anger’s killing me. With everything that happened today, I’m heartbroken about Melinda, and Regina won’t even comfort me. I’m her father.
Hugh’s anger grew. “She’s ignoring me, and then she’s got the nerve to disrespect me when I’m trying to be nice. Her mom’s still in the ICU!” Brad felt uneasy but still felt guilty about Regina. “Dad, that’s just how she is. She knows she’s talented and doesn’t care about others. Don’t take it personally.”
Hugh fumed, “She’s only acting this way because Scarlett adopted her! Without Scarlett, could she even live in the fancy neighborhood? She’s putting on airs.”
He stormed after Regina. “No matter what, we can’t let our blood stray outside the family. Regina must come home.”
Brad followed glumly.
Stephen put on a baseball cap and tugged Liam’s arm. “Let’s follow them.”
Liam shook him off, grossed out. “You’re the worst. You’re already obsessed with mods, and now you’re creeping on Regina like some weirdo. You’re my brother, but this is embarrassing.”

Stephen ignored him and crept after them like a crab.
Liam stood there exasperated when someone tapped his shoulder. “What are you two doing?”
Liam turned to see a man in riot squad uniform Julian
The man frowned disapprovingly. I saw you two stalking that girl like creeps. Want me to arrest you?”
Liam sighed. “It’s not me, it’s Stephen. He’s obsessed with modifying her because of her unique physique.”
He paused “Why are you here?”
Jukan spoke coolly. “Dainville has a level 10. I’m here to monitor her, prevent mass casualties if she goes berserk, and oversee any mods to stop her becoming an unstoppable killing machine.”
He showed Liam a photo. “Have you seen her?”
Liam frowned. “Yes”
“Where?” asked Julian.
