“Who cares about their love and protection! I only wanted what I desired. Is that so wrong? If they truly cared about me, they should’ve given me what I wanted, not those empty, meaningless things!”
Olive’s outburst completely stunned Betty.
Betty’s tears seemed frozen on her face as she stared blankly at the hysterical Olive.
At that moment, one of the spectators could no longer stay silent. They stood up and asked passionately, “But you took lives for what you wanted. Where do you get the nerve to speak so righteously?”
“Meaningless? Olive, every piece of clothing you’ve worn, every bite you’ve eaten, every bag you’ve carried -those were all bought with the Fairchild family’s so–called ‘meaningless things. If you really didn’t care, then what does the entire floor of clothes you own mean? What about all the money you recklessly spend every month? It’s just greed. You’re never satisfied,” Quinn spoke calmly, but with every word she said, the crowd grew more agitated.
By the time she finished, the scene was almost out of control.
“I never realized Olive had this side to her before.”
“Exactly. How could someone from the Fairchild family turn out so ungrateful?”
“You really can’t judge a book by its cover. People will do anything for money, just like birds risk it all for a crumb.”
The courtroom descended into chaos, and the judge banged the gavel. “Order! Plaintiff, continue presenting your testimony.”
The lawyer Quinn had brought stood up and spoke. “Your Honor, the defendant Olive Fairchild is suspected of attempted murder with particularly vile circumstances. According to our nation’s laws, she should be sentenced to a fixed prison term of no less than three years and no more than ten years.”
The judge carefully reviewed both sides‘ testimonies. Just as he was about to strike the gavel, Quinn suddenly stood up.
“Wait.”
Everyone turned to look at her in shock.
“Your Honor, we haven’t finished presenting the case. Why are you so eager to end it?”
The judge paused, startled. He looked up at Quinn. “Is there something else you want to say
The Fairchild family members instantly grew nervous.
Last night, they had spent a fortune bribing the judge, hoping to get a lighter sentence–three years at most. Once Olive got out, with the Fairchild family’s backing, there would still be hope.
“Yes, I do. I have something to say to the defendant. May I?”
The indre glanced at the Fairchild family in the seating area then nodded “Vou may

Quinn looked down at Olive. “Do you really not regret anything you’ve done?”
Olive looked like she wanted to devour Quinn alive. She let out a cold laugh and held her head high.

“It’s just three years, Quinn. You better wait for me to get out. Otherwise, I’ll be thinking of you every single day.”
Her voice was sincere, and her gaze looked genuine. To an outsider, it might have seemed like deep sisterly affection.
But Quinn knew that Olive was threatening her.
Quinn turned to Norman beside her. “Grandpa.”
She didn’t need to say more. Norman instantly understood. His heart ached with both pain and anger.
Then Quinn handed a USB drive to the staff.
Inside was a video Marcus had sent her just one hour ago.
On the large screen, the video began playing. Olive was shown driving her car straight toward a pedestrian who was crossing at a crosswalk. The car sped up, and the pedestrian was sent flying.
Olive hurried out of the car in panic. When she realized she had run over the person, she stumbled back in fear and almost fell. Shaking, she leaned on the car to steady herself, then climbed back into the driver’s seat and fled the scene.
Olive trembled from head to toe and stood up from the defendant’s bench, screaming, “No! That’s not what happened! That’s not how it was!”
But the nearby officers quickly restrained her.
Three years ago, this video had been maliciously edited to show Quinn’s face. As a result, Quinn took the blame and served time in prison for Olive.
Today, Quinn planned to return everything.
Norman was so angry his beard nearly flew off. Even with his cane, he couldn’t stop trembling.
“Your Honor, as you can see, the case you ruled on three years ago was wrong from the very beginning! Olive committed a hit–and–run, then framed Quinn to escape punishment. It’s outrageous!”
His cane struck the floor with a sharp thump.
“It wasn’t me!” Olive shrieked again.
“Your Honor, they’re trying to frame me! I didn’t hit that person! She already served the sentence–how could it have been me? If I really did it, why would she willingly go to jail? All of this is fake evidence. They’re trying to ruin me!”
This chain of evidence could put her in prison for the rest of her life. If it stuck, her future would be destroyed.
