Chapter 68 He Arrived Just in Time
“You seem to have misunderstood me,” Zayden said.
Damon shrugged innocently. “Quinn told me herself, didn’t you, Quinn?”
After speaking, he turned and looked at Quinn with a wide–eyed, harmless expression.

Quinn held her coffee in front of her face like an ostrich, silently chanting in her head, You can’t see me…
“Quinn, there’s still a problem with the project with Dean. Come upstairs with me to discuss it.”
Zayden hid his anger and pulled Quinn away. Forced to follow, she looked back at Damon with concern.
But she couldn’t resist Zayden’s strength and was dragged off.
Damon heard the name in Zayden’s sentence.
“Dean? Cooperation? Looks like I arrived just in time.”
Just then, a group of ladies from WhatsApp messaged him, asking if he was free to hang out.
Damon no longer felt like playing around. He walked outside and tossed his phone in the trash can, his whole body giving off an unapproachable vibe as he stared at his hand in disgust.
“Trash. So boring.”
At the elevator, Zayden finally let go of Quinn’s hand.
Quinn rubbed her sore wrist and complained with irritation, “Why did you pull me so hard?”
With his intelligence, Zayden could easily guess that the seemingly innocent guy was the Damon Quinn had mentioned. His worry made his tone impatient.
“I told you not to interact with Damon. Why didn’t you listen?”
Quinn’s face filled with anger. “Zayden, who I spend time with has nothing to do with you. Don’t use that tone to scold me!”
She turned and walked off without looking back.
Zayden realized he’d been too harsh and quickly went after her to explain.
But Quinn, already sensitive to him, wasn’t going to let him get away with it.
The connection they had worked so hard to build was broken again by Zayden’s words.
He thought it would be a long time before they spoke again–yet Quinn suddenly turned around.
“What’s the issue with Mr. Walker’s project?”
She looked everywhere but at Zayden.

Quinn didn’t understand. Her proposal was solid, but it still hadn’t been approved.
She had already given up many other contracts for this project.
It felt like Dean was deliberately slowing her down. He had been satisfied last time, yet he was likely planning to cancel the deal at the moment.
Her suspicion was confirmed when Dean officially terminated the cooperation.

At Grant Group’s annual board meeting, Quinn stormed into the boardroom and confronted Dean, who was seated second from the head.
“Mr. Walker, what do you mean by ‘termination of cooperation? Where exactly did we go wrong? Please explain in detail.”
Zayden only realized Dean had ended their collaboration when Quinn burst in. Though surprised, he showed no emotion.
The other board members of Grant Group were clearly displeased by Quinn’s sudden entrance.
“Dean, we shouldn’t be discussing outside business at this table, right?”
Dean hadn’t expected Quinn to come straight to the meeting like this. He waved her off half–heartedly. “Let’s talk about this later. Please leave for now.”
Dean now seemed like a completely different person from the one who once patted her shoulder and praised her as a rising star–something fishy was going on.
Quinn refused to back down. Nearly three months of effort couldn’t just vanish because Dean said no.
From the head of the table, Zayden also spoke. “Dean, maybe settle your own affairs before you attend the meeting. Grant Group’s business has little to do with you.”
Hearing that, Dean chuckled boldly, glanced around, and said confidently, “Mr. Grant, don’t be so quick. The meeting just started, how can you be sure it has nothing to do with me?”
Zayden stayed silent, his cold stare fixed on Dean.
The next moment, Dean opened a PowerPoint in front of everyone and threw a thick stack of reports onto the table.
Chin held high, he spoke as if everything was under his control. “After looking at what I’ve prepared, do you still think Grant Group’s business has nothing to do with me? These materials could very well double next year’s profits!”
Zayden’s expression didn’t change. A few documents weren’t enough to intimidate him.
Dean didn’t rush. He had already contacted some minor shareholders in secret. Though their shares weren’t large, the numbers could still pressure Zayden.
As for Quinn, Dean sneered inwardly.
A girl like her, so clueless. How dare she storm into the board meeting? I’ll make sure she vanishes from this industry
