Chapter 10%
After leaving Wendy’s ward, Nora paced the hallway with a sharp, calculating look in her eyes
She spotted a passing nurse and quickly put on a warm smile. “Excuse me, sweetheart. Could you tell me which room the Mr. Dean Zander is staying in?“%
The nurse eyed her suspiciously. “Who are you?“)

Nora’s eyes darted around as she came up with a lie. “I’m his relative. I heard the old man’s not doing well, so I visited:”
The nurse frowned. “Mr. Zander needs rest. He’s not accepting any visitors.”
“Oh, come on, young lady, why are you being like this?”
Nora’s smile vanished, replaced with a stern expression. “I’m telling you the truth! I’m his in–law. My daughter’s carrying the Zander Family’s grandchild!”
Her sudden outburst startled the nurse and a few nearby patients‘ families turned to look.
The nurse quickly lowered her voice “Please, keep it down! Mr. Dean Zander is in VIP room 808, but you can’t just barge in “X
Ignoring her, Nora tumed and headed for the elevators.
Inside VIP room B0B, Dean was sitting in bed, reviewing some documents. His face was still pale from illness.!!
Suddenly, the door burst open and a strange woman rushed in. With a loud thud, she dropped to her knees beside the bed.
“Dear in–law!” She wailed dramatically. “You have to help me and my daughter!”
Dean was so startled by the sudden intrusion that he dropped his papers. “You who are you? Security!”
“I’m Wendy Stevens’s mother!”
Nora cried, tears and snot running down her face
“My daughter is carrying your family’s precious grandson! That Daphne is a useless, infertile woman! What night does she have to still hold the title of Mrs. Zander?”
Dean froze, his hand hovering over the call button. His face darkened. “What did you just say?”
Nora quickly crawled a little closer, seeing that he wasn’t kicking her out immediately. “Sir, please hear me out
Dean took a deep breath, forcefully suppressing his anger. “Get up first.”
Unfortunately, Nora refused to move, crying even louderli
“My daughter has been with Jonathan for so long. Now she’s pregnant and still doesn’t even have a proper title! That Daphne can’t have kids and still won’t step aside!”
“Enough”
Dean slammed his hand against the bedside table, but the motion triggered a fit of coughing. After a few moments, he steadied his breath and stared coldly at Nora.
“Explain yourself clearly. What do you m
mean Daphne can’t have children?
Nora’s eyes lit up and she quickly embellished the story. “Jonathan said it himself! He said that after Daphne’s miscarriage, she can’t conceive anymore!“1⁄2
“Nonsense!”
Dean’s hand trembled with anger. He took a moment to compose himself, rubbing his temples, Get up and tell me the whole story from the beginning
Only then did Nora get to her feet, wiping her tears as she sat on a nearby chair. “It’s like this.”
She gave a dramatic and vivid retelling of why Daphne supposedly couldn’t have kids, how Wendy got pregnant, how sweet and gentle she was and how Jonathan had grown disappointed in Daphne. Of course, she carefully left out the part where her daughter actively seduced him
Becoming emotional again, she started to sob. “My daughter is a pure and innocent girl! How can she have a child for him without a proper status?
Dean listened in silence for a long time.X
Finally, he waved his hand wearily. “I understand. You can go back now.”
“Then, the marriage. Nora pressed urgently.
“I will handle this matter, Dean said coldly. “Now, please leave.”
Nora still wanted to say more, but when she saw the stormy look on his face, she reluctantly stood up.
She turned back as she reached the door, still unwilling to give up. “Sir, you must think of your grandson!
