Chapter 10%
By the time Vero and I arrived in Yvermont, it was already evening.
She didn’t take me home but brought me to a hospital instead. Seeing my confused expression, she explained. “I have a friend named Jack. He’s a really skilled doctor, the kind who wins awards left and right. He specializes in treating lower body paralysis and has achieved significant success in this field. I want him to treat you and see if he can help restore your legs.”
A flicker of hope passed through my eyes, but then I remembered that even Dr. Grove, someone so skilled, had said that my condition was beyond recovery. The hope I had just felt quickly faded away and I sighed.
“Forget it. My condition is probably beyond treatment”
But Vero insisted.
“How do you know it can’t be treated if you haven’t tried yet? I remember back in college you said you wanted to become the best dancer. Your dream hasn’t been fulfilled yet, we can’t give up now.”
Becoming a dancer had always been my dream. I had worked so hard to practice dance, dedicating all my time to it. I had believed everything would be as wonderful as I imagined. But then, after five years of dating, with our engagement already set, my fiancé was suddenly exposed in a kissing video with Maya. In my anger, I confronted him, but all I got was “Let’s break up,” and soon after, he started dating Maya.
At that time, because of the leaked kissing video, Maya was being gossiped about. My fiancé shifted all the blame onto me, deliberately targeting my family’s company, which led to its bankruptcy. My parents couldn’t bear the blow and tragically committed suicide by jumping off a building. My life changed overnight, from being a cherished daughter to a helpless orphan with no one to rely on. My friends, who had always flattered me, began to distance themselves after they learned that my family went bankrupt. They even started to isolate me and sabotage me, making it impossible for me to live normally and thus, I couldn’t continue practicing dance. It was during that time that Elowen appeared. He didn’t care at all that I was burdened with a million–dollar debt. In front of everyone, he confessed his love to me, saying that he had secretly admired me for ten years but never had a chance to get close. Now that he finally had the opportunity, he hoped I would accept him. To show his sincerity, he even paid off all my debts.
I was deeply moved, thinking it was a gift from heaven. I accepted his confession and not long after, we successfully got married.8
After marriage, Elowen treated me well, despite his busy schedule. I firmly believed that he was my destined one. I gave up my long–held dream of becoming a dancer to have children for him. But after getting pregnant four times, I miscarried each time in the ninth month. Every time, Elowen couldn’t be by my side for various reasons.
I thought he was really just busy and I never complained.}
But when I was pregnant with our fifth child, Elowen changed. He spent every single hour by my side, giving me the best care. He said he was afraid of losing another child and promised to protect me no matter what. I believed him.8
Until I overheard his conversation with Dr. Grove in the hospital, I had no idea that everything from the beginning was part of a carefully crafted scheme by Elowen, designed specifically for me.
As my thoughts cleared, my eyes became moist and all the resentment piled up in my chest, making it hard to swallow the grievances I had endured over the years.
Elowen wanted me to never dance again, to give way to Maya, but I refused to let him have his way.
I raised my hand and took hold of Vero’s, saying seriously. “Then I leave my legs to your friend.
Based on Vero’s description, I thought Jack would be a middle–aged scholar, around fifty or at least thirty–five years old. To my surprise, he was actually a young man just turned twenty–four, two years younger than me.
I was a bit taken aback. I didn’t expect someone so young to have achieved such remarkable accomplishments. What shocked me even more was that he merely glanced at my legs and confidently claimed he could cum them. He assured me to trust him and leave it to him &
