Chapter 36%
In the past every moment spent with Maya had felt like pure happiness. He had cherished her like a precious gem, once dreaming of raising Yasha together and becoming a happy family of three.}
But at some point, something changed. Just seeing Maya’s face started to irritate him. He found himself increasingly repelled by her touch and now, anything related to her filled him with extreme disgust
Even living under the same roof as her made him feel utterly repulsed
And yet, the only face lingering in his mind was mine. It was a feeling he had never experienced during our years together. It was almost as if I were the most important thing in his life, as if he couldn’t go on without me.X
He endured every agonizing second spent with Maya by thinking of me. He remembered how I used to smile while cooking for him, how I would lean into his embrace. Those memories were the only things that lightened his suffocating mood.
But he knew this couldn’t go on. He had to find a way to escape from Maya.
Late at night, as the sound of Maya’s steady breathing filled the room, Elowen slowly opened his eyes and looked at her, his gaze filled with disgust
If it hadn’t been for Maya’s constant manipulation and temptations, clouding his judgment, he never would have hurt me the way he did and I never would have filed for divorce.
She was the true culprit behind everything and only her death could bring an end to it all.
A ruthless glint flashed in Elowen’s eyes as he carefully lifted Yasha from the cradle and walked out of the house.
He stepped onto the road, heading toward his car. Just as he got inside, an explosion suddenly erupted behind him. Flames surged into the night sky, consuming the house in an instant.
Elowen paused, turning back to watch. His eyes reflected the raging infero and within it, a frantic figure struggled to escape, desperately fleeing through the fire.
He let out a cold lough. “Maya, you forced me to do this.”

I found out about Maya’s death the next moming. After seeing the news of her charred body, Vero excitedly rushed to tell m happened the night before.
“Callista, let me tell you something! Last night, the house Maya rented cought fire and she was burned alive. Only Elowen and the child survived. You wouldn’t believe how horrific it was. She was completely unrecognizable!”
I glanced at the news. The screen displayed Maya’s body, burned beyond recognition, reduced to nothing more than a blackened mass. Elowen stood to the side, his eyes red as he gazed at Maya’s corpse. In his arms, little Yasha was blissfully unaware of what had happened. She waved her tiny hands in the air, playing as if nothing had changed.
I hated Elowen and Maya for everything they had done to me. They had hurt me too many times. Yet, my heart ached for Yasha !
She was so young, yet she had already endured so much–her family’s bankruptcy and her mother’s tragic death. I couldn’t imagine how difficult her life would be from now on.X
Just then, my phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number. I was about to reject the call when Vero nudged me with her elbow, causing my finger to slip and press “answer”
A hoarse voice came through the speaker almost immediately.
