Chapter 6

When Jason found Rebecca, she was standing by the roadside, crying. Her red, swollen eyes made her appear utterly pitiful, evoking a sense of sympathy in anyone who saw her

Fortunately, she wasn’t injured, Jason let out a sigh of relief, helping her into the car and driving towards the wedding venue

On the way, Jason’s phone, which was placed by the gear lever, rang. The caller ID showed that it was Karen

While driving, Jason reached out to grab the phone, but Rebecca quickly snatched it away and hung up the call. She then blocked Karen’s number, acting as if nothing had happened and explained calmly, it was a spam call, I helped you hang up. Just focus on driving.Jason believed it and didn’t question the call, instead speeding up

he

When they arrived at the wedding venue, he instinctively searched through the crowd for that familiar figure, but after looking around, he couldn’t spot anyone

His brows furrowed and he pulled a bodyguard aside, asking, Where’s Karen? Has she not arrived yet?”

were walking, she

The bodyguard shook his head in response and Jason’s expression immediately darkened, his brows furrowing tightly together. An hour had already passed and the suspension bridge was less than a tenminute drive from here. Even if Karen should have amived by now!!

Could it be78

A strange sense of uncase surged in his chest. Jason took k out his phone, about to call Karen, but was stopped when Rebecca grabbed his his wrist

Jason, you’re looking for Karen, right? She just called me and said she was delayed because of something, but she’ll be here soon. Besides, our wedding is about to start. Maybe it’s better if you don’t focus on someone who doesn’t matter.”

Of course, Rebecca hadn’t received a call from Karen. She simply couldn’t stand seeing Jason so concemed about Karen, especially on the day of their wedding. She wouldn’t allow her man to think about another woman while marrying her

Jason also realized his mistake and quickly put away his phone, then gestured for Rebecca to take his arm and enter the church with him. Rebecca’s face lit up with a happy smile. She eagerly linked her arm with Jason’s and walked into the hall with joy

The wedding ceremony officially began, with the emcee hosting the event on stage. The audience showered Jason and Rebecca with applause and blessings. Rebecca smiled brightly, her cheeks flushed, but throughout the ceremony, Jason seemed distracted. His gaze kept wandering uncontrollably toward the church doors.

For some reason, he couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that lingered in his chest. His mind kept replaying the image of Karen’s face when he had left her on the bridge. Her face was as pale as if it had drained of all color, like a flower that could wither at any moment. At that time, his mind had been completely consumed with rushing to save Rebecca and he hadn’t paid attention to Karen. Now, thinking back, he couldn’t help but wonder if something had happened to her.”

*Jason, Jason…

Noticing Jason’s distraction, Rebecca felt a hint of dissatisfaction but didn’t dare show it. She gently squeezed his hand, trying to get his attention

Jason, the officiant asked us to exchange rings”

Jason came back to his senses at her words, Realizing his momentary distraction, he flashed a brief apologetic look at Rebecca. After muttering a quick apology, he reached for the wedding rings that had been presented to him

But when he turned his head and looked at the wedding dress on Rebecca, his thoughts couldn’t help but drift. He had once promised Karen that he would marry her with the traditional ceremonies, even designing a special wedding dress for them. But now, that dress, meant for her, was on Rebecca, making it feel painfully obvious

But all of this was Karen’s own doing. She had abandoned him and his mother, so what was wrong with him giving her things to someone else

With that thought, the pain in Jason’s heart eased slightly. He gently lifted Rebecca’s left hand to place the ring on her finger

Just then, a close bodyguard rushed in, his face full of panic as he urgently told Jason, Mr. Greene, something’s wrong! There’s been an Incident
