Chapter 20
After hearing Yoel’s words, Karen’s frown deepened. She gave him a long, searching look before turning around and walking into the villa.
Yoel thought she was angry and hurried forward to coax her, but she stopped him. “Yoel, I want to be alone for a while.”
Yoel froze. He wanted to say something but, in the end, he chose to give her space. “Alright. If you need anything, just let me know.” Karen nodded in response before heading upstairs to her bedroom.
For three nights in a row, she refused to sleep in the same room as Yoel. Each time he entered their bedroom, she would pick up her blanket and go to the guest room.”
Yoel wasn’t a fool. He could clearly see that she was avoiding him. His heart clenched painfully, as if an invisible hand were squeezing it, making it ache in an endless, suffocating rhythm &
To avoid disturbing Karen, Yoel sensibly chose to stay at the hospital and work overtime, not returning home for an entire week. He wanted to give her space to think about their relationship.
Yoel knew deep down that he could never outweigh Jason in Karen’s heart. Otherwise, why
y would she start avoiding him just after hearing about her past, even before regaining her memories?
Even though he was reluctant to let her go, if she truly wanted to leave, he had no right to keep her by his side. His greatest wish in this lifetime was simply for Karen to live happily.
That day, like usual, even after working hours ended, he stayed behind to continue working overtime. However, just a few minutes into his work, his phone suddenly rang.
“Dr. Lawton, there’s been a serious car accident in the west district. The victim is in critical condition and needs immediate on–site treatment. Please come quickly.”
Hearing this, Yoel’s expression changed instantly. Without hesitation, he grabbed his medical kit and rushed out, following the directions given over the phone.
However, when he arrived at the location, something felt off. Despite following the instructions exactly, there wasn’t a single person in sight. The entire area was eerily silent.
Thinking that the caller might have given him the wrong address. Yoel took out his phone to call back. But before he could dial, a cloth suddenly covered his mouth from behind.
The fabric was laced with a sedative and within moments, his consciousness faded into darkness.2
When he woke up, he found himself tied to a concrete pillar inside an abandoned factory. His entire body was tightly bound, making him unable to move.
Just as Yoel was wondering who had kidnapped him, a man with bright red hair walked over, followed by five thugs with hair dyed in various colors.
Yoel frowned and demanded, “Who are you?“}
The red–haired man scowled, his face filled with rage. “You forgot me so soon?” His voice was filled with hatred, as if he wanted to tear Yoel apart on the spot!
“A month ago, my wife had a miscarriage and was sent to your hospital. You were the one in charge of her surgery, right?” The man’s voice grew fiercer. “But you, the so–called miracle doctor, the genius Yoel Lawton, killed her
His eyes turned bloodshot with grief and fury as he roared, “Do you even know how devastated I was? Before the accident, my wife had just promised me that after the baby was bom, we’d go on a trip together. And then, she died because of you!”
At first, Yoel didn’t recognize the red–haired man, but after hearing his accusations, he finally recalled the incident.
A month ago, a pregnant woman had been rushed into the hospital, bleeding heavily. The ones who brought her in were none other than the gang of thugs standing behind the red–haired man.8
Initially, Yoel had assured it was a case of threatened miscarriage, but as soon as he began surgery, he realized it was far worse. The woman had clear signs of sexual assault and not by just one person X
By the time the arrived at the hospital, she was already on the brink of death!!

Under normal circumstances, Yoel’s medical skills could have saved her. But for some reason, the very people who had brought her in, thugs, kept interfering and deliberately delayed his treatment. Their stalling tactics caused her condition to worsen beyond saving and in the end, she died on the operating table!
A few days after the incident, the pregnant woman’s husband, this red–haired thug, had already come looking for trouble. However, he was no match for Yoel and ended up getting beaten up and sent to the police station X
At the time, Yoel thought that was the end of its
But now, a month later, the red–haired man had returned, this time with reinforcements
