Chapter 18
“Mom, please stop talking. If someone hears this and it gets back to Vince, we’re done for
Louise quickly urged Veronica to stay quiet, fearful that someone might be listening from the other side of the wall.
Adam snorted coldly. “If anyone dares to eavesdrop, we’ll just do the same thing as before.”
“That’s night!” Veronica wholeheartedly agreed. “We’ll handle it just like we did with Albert–make sure they stay silent for the rest of their lives. No one will be able to stop us.”
“Thank you Dad and Mom- Louise began to speak, but before she could finish, the doorknob turned.8
The three of them turned in unison to see Vincent standing in the doorway, his face cold as he scanned them one by one, taking in their expressions
The first to react was Louise. She quickly tried to mask her nervousness, putting on a soft, fragile voice. “Vince, are you here to see me?” Trying to act coy, she added, “I thought you wouldn’t come at this hour, I didn’t expect you to think I’m so important.“}
Veronica laughed awkwardly. “Oh, Vince, you’re here! You two should catch up. Adam and I will head back and leave you two alone. As she spoke. Veronica tried to pull Adam away}
However, Vincent raised his hand, blocking them and shutting the door without a flicker of emotion on his face. “Why are you in such hurry to leave?”
“What were you three talking about? You seemed to be having quite a good time. How about sharing it with me?”
Louise, seeing Vincent’s calm expression and tone, assumed he had only just arrived. She immediately responded, “Vince, my parents have been busy all day, and they haven’t had a chance to eat, so they were planning to head back and rest”
Vincent lowered his gaze, suddenly remembering how, in the past, whenever it was time for a meal, Sierra would insist he eat. If he refused, she would cook and bring food to his office.
Looking at Louise’s flushed face, he smiled. “I’ve been busy all day too and haven’t eaten. Louise, why haven’t you shown any concern for me?”
“Or is it that you’ve never loved me at all, only my wealth?”
Louise’s face slightly changed, turning red with embarrassment. “Vince, how could you think of me like 1 things, I’m just happy to be with you.”
that? I no
never thought about those
“In the past, I was driven away by Sierra, and I had no choice. But now, no one can stop us from being together Vince-”
“Then let me ask you–where is Sierra? Where is she?” Vincent suddenly interrupted her.
Upon hearing Sierra’s name, Veronica’s expression twisted in disdain. “That damn girl, all she does is run around. Who knows where she’s hiding with some random man now?
“Mom, is Sierra really your biological daughter? Vincent turned his gaze to her, his voice cold.
Veronica froze, caught off guard. She quickly averted her eyes, her voice wavering, “O–of course…
“Even now, you’re still lying to me,” Vincent said, his tone eerily calm.
Louise quickly got out of bed, walked over to his side, and began hurling false accusations at Sierra. “Vince, did Sierra say something to you? She just can’t stand seeing me happy-”
Without waiting for her to finish her sentence, Vincent slapped Louise across the face.
“Vincent!” Veronica erupted in fury, glaring at him. “Has that bitch Sierra been poisoning your mind?!
