Chapter 4 Chaos
Lesley’s POVE
“Eric! What are you doing here?” Sophie gasped, her face draining of color.
“I invited him,” I said calmly, gesturing for him to sit. “You wanted an apology, didn’t you, Eric?”
Trenton’s face contorted in anger. “Lesley, what’s the point of all this? Are you trying to embarrass me?“}]
Ignoring him, I turned to Eric. “I thought you deserved to hear the truth. I thought you should know how your wife decided she needed to use someone familiar, a past lover, actually, for her ‘donation“.”
Eric’s face darkened, his fists clenched as he glared at Sophie. When she tried to stammer out an excuse, he slapped her hand away.” “Is this what you meant by ‘sperm donation,‘ Sophie? Using your ex to have a child behind my back?”
Trenton, in a weak attempt to defend her, said, “Eric, it’s not what you think. I was just helping her. We never did anything inappropriate.“)]
Eric snorted, barely holding back a punch. “Helping her? Like the times she ‘needed‘ you at night because she’s afraid of thunder? Or how she ‘needed‘ you to comfort her after our arguments? You’ve been playing her second husband for years!”
Sophie tried to intervene, reaching out to stop him. “Eric, don’t hit him! You know why we had to do this, because you can’t give me a child.”
Eric’s face turned red with rage, his eyes like ice. “Then why not go to a clinic? Why choose him, of all people?”
“Because I wanted a child with someone I truly loved,” she whispered, finally admitting what everyone already knew.
I stood off to the side, arms crossed, watching the scene unfold. She had finally said it. Just then, I caught a glimpse of Eric’s face, his rage barely contained. Before anyone could react, his fist shot out, landing squarely on Trenton’s jaw.“]
Trenton stumbled back, his face red, clutching his cheek. Sophie cried out and leapt between them, blocking Eric with her arms.
“How dare you hit him! This isn’t his fault. It’s because you can’t give me what I need!“}]
Eric’s hands clenched tighter, his face flushed. “So, finding someone else to hurt me was your solution? Someone I trusted?“}]
Sophie just shook her head, refusing to budge. “I wasn’t going to settle for a stranger. I wanted a child with someone I cared about.”
From the sidelines, I couldn’t help but let out a dry laugh. Finally, everything was out in the open. Eric’s face turned a shade darker at her words, his anger rising even further. Without a word, he pulled his fist back again and threw another punch. Seeing what was coming, I quietly slipped out of the room, letting the chaos and shouting fade behind me.
I had barely made it home when I received a call from the police. They asked if I could come in to give a statement about what had happened. When I arrived at the station, I saw Trenton and his friends, faces bruised and angry. Trenton glared at me with unbridled fury, but his friend Chris held him back, shooting me a warning look. I simply raised an eyebrow, following the officer into the interview room.
After finishing my statement, I was told that Sophie was hospitalized, having shown signs of a possible miscarriage. Trenton and his friends, meanwhile, faced a night in holding.”
It wasn’t until a week later that I saw Trenton again, when he asked to meet and finalize the divorce. However, instead of heading to the lawyer’s office, he drove to our old house. Suspicious, I asked,
“What’s going on here?”
His face hardened. “If you want a divorce, then you’ll go inside and apologize to Sophie.“N
“What?!”
