Chapter 12
The morgue fell into silence.
No answer is the best answer.
Sir Hubbard stumbled back a few steps, realizing something.
Finally, he covered his face and cried in pain, saying to Sarahi’s lifeless body, “I’m sorry, Dad is sorry for you…”
Jovan didn’t say anything and silently leaned against the wall.
It took a long time before he spoke, “I’m sorry for what I did to her.”
“I have already bought the plane ticket to go abroad. Once Deni is discharged from the hospital, I will leave this place with Sarahi’s ashes. You know, didn’t want to see you all.”
After Jovan finished speaking, he turned around and left.
After several days, Jovan returned to that familiar home and still felt a bit dazed.
After all, Sarahi had lived with him for eight years, and her traces were everywhere in the house.
The wall still had their wedding photos hanging on it, with Sarahi smiling, so happily and vividly in the pictures.
Jovan felt a bit uncomfortable and went downstairs to buy something.
As he was passing by the residential area, the aunt downstairs asked him, “Jovan, why haven’t you seen Sara recently?”
Jovan didn’t know how to answer, “She went back to her hometown.”
“Why did you come back to our hometown? Last time she told me that you always stay up late and your health is not good. She asked me to bring you a free–range old hen when I return to the village, so you can stew it and nourish yourself.”
“I brought the chicken back. Did she forget about it? No worries, you can take it away.”
Jovan looked at the chicken handed to him and suddenly felt a mix of emotions. “Thank you.”
Jovan silently went upstairs, and the huge house was eerily quiet.
He was not a talkative person. He used to be habitually silent at home, but Sarahi would chatter and talk a lot, telling him some trivial family matters.
He used to feel annoyed most of the time, but now that the noise has disappeared, he realizes that silence can also be a form of torture.
Suddenly, the door opened.
Jovan stood up instinctively, “Sarahi, you’re back.”
As soon as he spoke, he froze.
Ernesto at the door also froze, with a black face, he threw his backpack on the ground and said, “Dad, I’m hungry.”
Jovan didn’t want to cook, so he took out his phone and ordered takeout.
After taking a bite of the takeout, Ernesto dropped his fork and said with a frown, “It’s so disgusting! Why hasn’t Mom come back yet!”
Jovan knew he was a picky eater, but he didn’t expect to be this picky, frowning.
“Tomorrow, let the nanny come and cook. Tonight, we’ll just eat this.”
Ernesto didn’t eat anymore and turned his head back to the room.
The next day, Ernesto woke up late, shouting unconsciously, “Mom, you didn’t wake me up again!”
The words were spoken, only then did I realize that Sarahi was no longer here.
Ernesto suddenly fell silent and took a bite of the steamed bun made by the nanny, but then he vomited it all out.
“I wanted to eat the food my mom made, it tasted different from the pancake she made,”
The living room fell silent.
Jovan remained silent, and Ernesto also realized what was happening and stopped making a fuss.
After a long while, Ernesto’s eyes turned red. “Dad, when exactly are Mom and Dad coming back? Didn’t you say Mom would be back in a few days?”
