Two towering bodyguards followed closely behind Logan.
Maggie slapped him hard across the face, and the bodyguards did nothing. They were only there to restrain him if he lost control.
Rachel had made it clear that if Logan was going to act foolishly, they should let him. Despite being so fierce with others, Logan was surprisingly meek around Maggie.
Though he clenched his fists, he took the slap without retaliation.
“You’re my wife,” Logan murmured dejectedly.
Maggie pushed him away. “Do you know your mother’s bankrupted my family?”
Her anger grew as she continued, “How did I end up almost marrying such a useless man? Thank goodness it didn’t happen.”
She berated Logan, spittle flying as she scolded him. Yet, he didn’t lift a finger against her. “Get lost. I never want to see you again!”
Logan’s face fell; he truly loved Maggie.

He followed her, unwilling to part, and stumbled upon a heartbreaking scene. Maggie, who had just dismissed Logan, was locked in a passionate kiss with her ex–boyfriend, the one she had never really cut ties with.
They were so engrossed they didn’t notice Logan’s approach.
“Baby, tired of your crazy boyfriend already?” the man teased.
Maggie replied with a roll of her eyes, “Don’t even mention that loser. If not for his family’s money and how easily he could be controlled, who’d want him? I’m scared he’ll hurt me.”
Logan, who had withstood her insults without flinching, suddenly looked fierce.
I sent a quick text, and the man’s phone vibrated.
“Bet he doesn’t know you were seeing me too while with him. What a joke,” the man said with a smile.
No one could stand that.
As his words ended, Logan roared and lunged at him, with the bodyguards right on his heels trying to intervene.
But the man acted faster, shoving Maggie to the ground before fleeing without a backward glance.

“So that’s it? Such a petty reason?” I murmured, a sense of futility washing over me as they covered her with a sheet and wheeled her to the morgue.
Rachel remained detached through it all; she was focused on guiding Barry now.
