Chapter 76
“Oh, and there’s the chicken soup that Madam Pruitt personally brought
over, it’s still warm. Would the lady like to have some now?”
Ophelia:
She went pale for a moment, feeling an ominous premonition.
“Madam Pruitt…?”
“Yes! Madam Pruitt came at nine o’clock and is now in the garden. I was going to wake the lady up, but Madam Pruitt wouldn’t let me, saying that the lady needed to rest well!”
Seeing Lily’s cheerful appearance and feeling the ambiguous gazes of the surrounding servants, Ophelia felt a darkness descend before her eyes!
Damn! Did the whole world know about her and Winford…?
Ophelia’s toes dug into the ground, wishing she could escape Earth with the spaceship overnight!
At that moment, Glenda came in.
“Oh, Ophelia got up?”
That smile was unprecedentedly kind.
The tone was unprecedentedly gentle.
Ophelia quickly forced a smile and said, “…Grandma!”
“Ah!” Glenda responded happily, walked over with a beaming smile, pulled her down to sit, looked her up and down, and gently asked, “Are
you feeling okay?”
Ophelia’s face burned with embarrassment, and she didn’t even dare to meet Glenda’s gaze. “Ahem, n–no…”
“That’s good, that’s good!” Glenda smiled widely, showing her teeth. “Quick, go bring me the chicken soup I prepared!”
“Ophelia hadn’t had breakfast yet, right? You have to take good care of your own body; how could you let yourself go hungry!” she said reproachfully.
Ophelia: “Im sorry, Grandma, I woke up late…”
“Where is it late? It’s not late, not late at all. You could sleep until the afternoon; the most important thing is to get enough rest!”
Ophelia:
Glenda was overly affectionate, and Ophelia couldn’t help but have the illusion that she wasn’t just involved with Winford, but that she was
pregnant.
Of course, in Glenda’s view, there wasn’t much difference.
It had already happened, so how far could it be until she got pregnant? Holding her great–grandson was just around the corner!
Of course, what made her the happiest was that Winford was actually willing to touch his little wife.
The doctor had said that her grandson’s condition was more serious than his physical illness; it was a matter of the heart. It seemed that he no longer cared about anything, and nothing in this world could make him feel attached again.
She did not know how many nights she had spent sleepless, worrying
about her Winford, but now he was actually willing to accept the little girl in front of him. Did this mean that she was the one who could make him care and feel attached?
At that moment, Glenda was extremely satisfied with Ophelia and felt immensely grateful!
Under Glenda’s loving gaze, Ophelia drank two bowls of soup in one go, and her stomach felt like it could burst.
“Where is Mr. Winford?” she hurriedly asked Lily, changing the subject.
Lily hadn’t spoken yet when a steady sound of footsteps suddenly came from outside.
Ophelia instinctively turned her head and saw Winford walking in with. Graham and a few others.
He didn’t know what to do when he came back, the sleeves of his white shirt casually rolled up, with one hand tucked into his pants pocket.
A strand of black hair on his forehead, faintly glistening with sweat, fell over his brows and eyes, adding a touch of unruliness and handsomeness to his sharp and deep features.
He walked casually, slightly tilting his head as he spoke to Graham and a
few others.
“Honey!”
Ophelia’s eyes lit up, and she got up and ran towards him.
Winford looked at her, his brows and eyes unconsciously softening a bit. He instinctively opened his arms, and Ophelia suddenly threw herself into
his embrace.
“Where did you go?” she complained softly.
Why did it only appear now? She could hardly bear her grandmother’s tenderness!
Winford glanced behind her and saw Glenda grinning widely, her eyes almost disappearing in the smile, and immediately understood.
The corners of his lips lifted slightly, and his deep voice carried a hint of barely noticeable amusement.
“Did you miss your husband?”
Ophelia was annoyed and glared at him in accusation.
How could one say such things in front of Glenda!
Seeing the affectionate appearance of the two, Glenda was overjoyed. Winford had finally bloomed like an old tree–oh, no, like an iron tree!
He quickly got up and deliberately said, “Oh, I can’t do it anymore at my age. I’m feeling a bit tired now. Vivian, please help me go take a nap!”
Vivian, who had taken care of Glenda for many years, tried not to laugh. out, hurriedly helped her away, giving the young couple some space.
It also hinted that the servants should all withdraw.
Winford didn’t expose his grandmother’s poor acting skills. He wrapped. his arms around the girl’s slender waist and led her inside, asking, “Have you had breakfast? Is there anywhere you feel uncomfortable?”
