CHAPTER SEVEN
I sat there, my mouth hanging open, staring at my grandparents like they had just told me the world was flat. The serious looks on their faces confirmed they weren’t joking
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” I finally managed to say. “Please tell me this can’t be serious! Marry someone to become an Alpha? That’s impossible. It’s very ridiculous!“”
My grandmother shook her head. “I’m afraid it’s true, dear. It’s been our tradition for generations.“”
Mia nudged me with her elbow, a smile spreading across her face. “Trust me, youll change your view once you see him. He’s very handsome and breathtakingly beautiful, Girls cower over him and he’s the man of every woman’s dreams. ”
I crossed my arms stubbornly “I don’t care about his facial features. I cant possibly marry a stranger. I just got out of a toxic relationship, remember?”
My grandfather cleared his throat. “He’s not a stranger, though. He’s very popular
“Well, who is he then? What’s his name?” I demanded.
My grandmother and grandfather exchanged looks before my grandmother finally spoke “His name is Dominic Blackwood”
I gasped, nearly falling off my chair. “Dominic Blackwood? The Dominic Blackwood?”
He was a very known influential figure and an Alpha King. He was the only son to the Blackwood dynasty and embarrassingly enough, he was my childhood crush. Though I had only seen him in photos and never in real life. He was the heir to many territories and had a lot of companies under his control.
“How… how did my parents choose him for me? I stammered
My grandfather smiled warmly. “Your parents were both friends with his parents. Tight friends before they died. It was their dying wish to allow their children to marry”
I still couldn’t recover from the shock. My mind raced with memonies of all those magazine clippings I’d collected as a teenager, the way my heart had fluttered when I’d seen his face on TV. But that was just a silly crush
“I can’t have this arrangement. I just got out of a relationship with Lucas and now 111 be mated to another man I don’t even know? This is crazy!
“You never got married to Lucas,” my grandmother pointed out gently.
ntly. “And this could be a way out for your redemption” “But I came here to take revenger I protested. “That was my plan
“And this is your medium to take revenge,” my grandfather said wisely. “Being Alpha makes you head over all werewolves in this territory. Without being Alpha, you won’t have power over anything. And he’s an Alpha King. The best combo for what you want to achieve
Mia nodded enthusiastically. “Think about it, Evel With Dominic by your side, you could crush Lucas and his pathetic pack under your heel without even breaking a sweat!
I fell silent, considering their words. They were right, as much as I hated to admit it. Without the Alpha title, I was just another werewoll with a grudge. But as Alpha, with Dominic by my side…!
T’ll need to think about this, I finally said, standing up from the table. “This is a lot to process.”
Without waiting for their response, I hurried upstairs to my room and shut the door behind me. I leaned against it, sliding down until I was sitting on the floor.
Could I really marry someone I hadn’t even met? Even if he was Dominic Blackwood, the man whose poster had hung on my wall for years?
Every werewolf knew about the Blackwood pack. They were the most powerful pack in the country, maybe even the world. Dominic himself was known for his ruthlessness in business and pack matters. Women threw themselves at his feet, but he never seemed interested in any of them.
And now I was supposed to marry him?
But what choice did I have if I wanted my revenge?
I buried my face in my hands, more confused than ever!
d wasn’t fully present, constantly drifting to
Lucas paced anxiously in the hospital corridor while the doctor examined Clara. His mind thoughts of Evelyn.
She hadn’t picked up any of his calls throughout their time at the hospital. The Evelyn he knew would have come immediately, would have cooked food and waited anxiously for news about Clara’s condition.
“Mr. Walker?” The doctor’s voice broke through his thoughts.
“Yes? How is she? The baby?” Lucas asked.
The doctor smiled reassuringly. “Both Clara and the baby are fine. It was just minor stress, nothing to worry about. I’ve prescribed some rest and prenatal vitamins.”
Lucas nodded. He glanced at his phone again, still no response from Evelyn. He had sent her at least twenty messages since they amived at the hospitalE
“Can we go home now?” Clara asked softly, emerging from the examination room.}
“Of course, Lucas replied, placing his hand on her lower back
On the way home. Lucas kept checking his phone. He had bought Evelyn an expensive pendant for their sixth anniversary today. It was

When they finally arrived at the house, Lucas expected to find it decorated for their special day. Evelyn always went all out for their anniversaries–flowers, candles, her special homemade dinner. But as he pushed open the door, he was met with darkness and silence
“What’s wrong?” Clara asked, stepping inside behind him.
Lucas turned on the lights, revealing an empty, undisturbed living room. No decorations, no dinner prepared, no sign that Evelyn had been there at all.
“Evelyn?” he called out, his voice echoing through the house. “Are you home?”
With shaking hands, he pulled out his phone again and dialed her number. The line didn’t even ring, it went straight to voicemail. He tried again and again, each attempt more desperate than the last
“She’s not picking up,” he muttered, returning to the living room. The line’s not even going through“?
Clara shrugged, flipping through a magazine she had found on the coffee table. “Maybe she’s charging her phone.”
Before Lucas could respond, the front door burst open. His Beta, Marcus, rushed in with urgency
“Sir! We’ve been trying to reach you!” Marcus exclaimed out of breath.
Lucas straightened immediately, stepping in front of Clara. “What’s wrong?”
“We just got a report, sir. Your fiancée is gone. She has disappeared.”
The expensive pendant fell from Locas’s hand, hitting the floor with a loud noise
