CHAPTER NINE!
The next moming, I woke up with a temble headache. I had spent the entire night tossing and turning, my mind racing with thoughts of marriage arrangements and revenge plans.
The face of Dominic Blackwood from the Wolf Net kept appearing in my mind, making it impossible to sleep
I groaned as I sat up in bed, massaging my temples. Just then, a soft knock on my door interrupted my misery. “Come in,” I called
My grandmother peeked her head in. “Good morning, dear. Have you given any thought to what we discussed last night?”
I sighed heavily, “Yes, and I’ve made my decision. I can’t go through with the arrangement. Il find another way to get my revenge, even without being Alpha.
She gave me a disappointed look “Evelyn, there’s no time to waste. The council is expecting an answer”
“My answer is no,” I said firmly won’t marry a stranger just to become Alpha.”
Before she could argue further, the door burst open and Mia waltzed in carrying several bags. “You’re such a that?” she announced cheerfully.
I frowned at her. “What are you doing here?”
stubborn wolf, you know
She dropped the bags on my bed with a grin. “I’m moving in and making sure you change your mind about Dominic, Ill only leave once you finally accept him.”
Despite my mood, I smiled. “Good thing I want you to keep me company forever. My grandparents are leaving already.” I pouted dramatically.
“Actually,” my grandfather said from the doorway. “before we leave, we thought you might like to take a drive around the pack territory. You should go dress up.
My mood instantly brightened. I was curious to see what had changed in my absence. “That sounds perfect! I get ready”
“Oh wait!” I suddenly remembered. “But I’m not ruling anymore, so what’s the point?“..
My grandmother and grandfather exchanged amused glances but said nothing
I went to my closet and pulled out jeans and a t–shirt, but Mia immediately snatched them from my hands.
“No, you’re not wearing that.” she said firmly, digging through the bags she’d brought. She pulled out a stunning red dress with a sweetheart neckline.
“Just for a ride?” I asked incredulously as she pushed me toward the bathroom.
“The pack members can’t see their Alpha in casual clothes,” she insisted, following me in to help with the dress.
“Have you forgotten I’m not interested anymore? I reminded her as she zipped me up.
She just smiled mysteriously. “I have a good feeling about today.”
Thirty minutes later, with my hair and makeup done to Mia’s satisfaction, I joined my grandparents downstairs. They approvingly, but something about their expressions seemed… fishy.

We all got into my grandfather’s luxury SUV and drove through the territory. I couldn’t help but be impressed by how much the pack had flourished. New buildings had sprung up, businesses were thriving, and people looked happy
“The Alpha who’s been standing in for you has done a good job,” my grandfather commented, watching my reaction.
After about an hour, my grandmother suddenly declared, Tm hungry Let’s stop for lunch.“%
“Im not hungry.” I replied, too engrossed in watching the territory.
My grandfather shook his head. “You can’t wait in the car while we eat. It’s not proper
They pulled up to an extravagant restaurant I didn’t recognize. As we approached the entrance, I noticed how empty it seemed for lunchtime. The hostess smiled at us and led us straight to a private room in the back.
Just as I stepped through the doorway, I heard Mia shout behind me, “Sorry, Evelyn! We had to do this!”
I whirled around in confusion. “What’s happening?
To my shock, my grandparents and Mia were backing toward the exit, giant grins on their faces 2
“Enjoy your lunch my grandmother called before they all ran outside, shutting the door firmly behind them.,
I laughed nervously, thinking this was just another one of Mia’s pranks B
“Is this one of your tricks, Mia? Because it’s not funny!” I called out, moving toward the door
In my haste, I stumbled on my heel and started to fall forward. But before I could hit the ground, strong arms caught me. Fimm hands steadied me, and I found myself looking up into the most intense eyes I’d ever seen.
The same face i’d been staring at on the wolf net throughout the night. The face that had kept me from sleeping
Dominic Blackwood
I gasped as our eyes locked. His eyes were a striking silver–blue, glowing slightly with power. His dark hair was perfectly styled and his Jawline looked like it had been carved from marble. He was even more handsome in person than in photos
But it wasn’t just his appearance that left me speechless. It was the sudden connection I felt. A connection that could only mean one thing.”
