Chapter 80
So it turned out that my sister hadn’t just approached those six men to frame me–she had intentionally infected them with HIV.
The six men stared at her, eyes wide in disbelief and horror.
Most of the onlookers quickly dispersed.”
As they left, they muttered under their breath, “So unlucky.”
Just then, a police officer seemed to recall something.
“Where are your adoptive parents from?” he asked.}
“Elmwood Village,” she replied.}
“Elmwood Village?!” he repeated, stunned.}
Elmwood Village suffered a massive fire just last year. Nearly the entire village had perished in the blaze.}
“Yeah,” my sister said with a flat tone. “I started that fire.”
“Go ahead, arrest me. Sentence me to death. I won’t live much longer anyway.”
This version of my sister was nothing like the one from my previous life.
Back then, she had never killed anyone–never set a village ablaze.}
“You filthy bitch! It was you who set the fire! And now you’ve given me AIDS?!” One of the men roared.
“You evil whore! I must kill you!“}
If it weren’t for the police standing between them, those men would’ve surely torn her apart right then and there.
After a day of chaos, the police finally took my sister and the six men into custody.}]
The six children were also escorted away to another location by child services.
Only then did it truly sink in–I was still alive.
Still breathing.}
Then I heard a familiar voice.
“Baby, this is all my fault. I let myself be misled. Please, forgive me,” Lester sobbed as he dropped to his knees with a loud thud.” I had almost forgotten he was even there.
“Forgive you?” I laugh coldly. “And how exactly do you think I should do that?“}
“How about… we move the wedding to tomorrow?” he offered eagerly.”
“And what about the baby in your sister–in–law’s belly?” I asked, voice dripping with sarcasm.
“She’ll abort it. I’ll make her get rid of it,” he promised.
He crawled forward on his knees, desperation in his eyes.
“I’ve realized the only woman I’ve ever truly loved is you.”
His gaze was full of greed, practically leaking from every pore.§
PS PIPIIEJI P!
He knew my father had been arrested, my sister was taken away, and that everything–the house, the inheritance–would soon belong to me alone.
Lester had grown up dirt poor.
How could he possibly let go of a prize like me now?
“But will she agree to that?” I asked innocently.
“She will: Of course she will! She’s nothing to me–just someone I used to vent my frustrations. Besides, I have dirt on her. Even if she doesn’t agree, she’ll have to obey!”
His expression twisted into something cruel and sinister.
I tilted his chin with amusement.
“Oh? What kind of dirt? I’m curious.”
“She killed my older brother last year!” he snarled.}
Just as I suspected.}
Lester’s older brother had been strong and healthy.
It never made sense that a simple cold had taken him out.
But I doubted this scheme was hers alone.
“Did you hear that, Sister–in–law?” I said sweetly into Thalia’s phone, holding it up.
A voice screeched from the other end.
“Lester, you shameless bastard! It was your idea to poison your own brother, and now you’re blaming me? You just wait–I’ll make you pay!“%
Then the call abruptly ended.
Lester was still reeling in shock when the police snapped handcuffs onto his wrists. “You’ll need to come with us to the station for further investigation,” the officer said.
“Why me?! She’s the one who murdered my brother!”
“She’s already in our custody,” the officer replied coolly. “You’ll both be coming with us.”
Lester turned to me, his face desperate and pathetic.
“Amber, help me. Please, get me the best lawyer. I’m begging you.”
I yanked my hand away from him. “Do you remember how I begged you just earlier? And what did you say?“%
“Oh yes, you said, ‘Save you? You should be ashamed you’re still alive!‘ Right?”
“I was wrong, Amber! Baby, please–I swear, if you just help me just this once, I’ll never cheat again!”
“Pfft!” Thalia let out a sharp laugh.
“What a joke. Do you really think Amber still needs a man like you?
