Chapter 9
Felix’s breath hit his entire body, stiffening.
For a long moment, he said nothing. Then, he gave a hollow chuckle as if trying to convince himself.
“What nonsense are you spouting? Henry was seriously injured; there’s no way Adeline wouldn’t have gotten into that ambulance.” His voice wavered. “She wouldn’t divorce me. We’ve been together for ten years, she couldn’t bear to leave me!““}
His assistant’s face was deathly pale, his hands trembling at his sides.
“Sir, I’m not lying.” His voice cracked. “I checked the surveillance footage. Before the ambulance even arrived, someone had already bandaged Henry.”
“Madam took him to the airport and boarded the earliest flight abroad.”
His assistant swallowed hard, then handed over his phone.N
“This is the divorce agreement she sent. You’ll understand once you see it.“}
Felix snatched the phone, his fingers tightening around it. But the moment his eyes landed on the screen, his whole body began to tremble uncontrollably.
The divorce agreement was simple. I had chosen to leave without taking anything.
I only requested that he never disturb me and Henry again.
Felix grabbed his assistant by the collar, his grip tightening with panic and fury.
“Where did she go?!”
The assistant frantically shook his head, his face drained of color.
“After arriving at the airport, Madam used a new identity to board her flight. No one knows where she went…”
Felix’s fingers slowly loosened, his arms dropping lifelessly to his sides. He stood there, stunned, his mind refusing to accept the truth.
“Adeline left me… She’s gone?” His voice was barely above a whisper, his expression blank with disbelief. Then, as if clinging to a shred of hope, he muttered, “No… that’s impossible. I only made the mistake that all men make–she will forgive me.“}}

“She must just be angry that I hit Henry. She’s trying to punish me. Once I find her, she’ll forgive me, won’t she?”
His body swayed unsteadily, his voice trembling. But deep down, he and his assistant both knew he was only lying to himself.”
“Yes, that must be it. Whenever Adeline was upset, she would hide, waiting for me to find her. As long as I coax her, she will come back!”
His expression hardened and suddenly, he erupted.
“I don’t care what it takes; find her immediately! Do you hear me?!” His furious roar echoed through the hospital corridors.
The assistant recoiled, cowering under the sheer force of his rage. He had never seen Felix this unhinged before.”
The commotion was so loud it jolted Gianna and her son awake.
Rubbing her drowsy eyes, she stepped out of the hospital room, only to be fully awake by the sheer darkness clouding Felix’s face.
Through the assistant’s nervous stammering, she quickly pieced together the situation. Instead of sympathy, a flicker of satisfaction crossed her eyes.”
She let out a light chuckle and gently tugged on Felix’s sleeve, her voice soft, almost coaxing.“]
“Felix, don’t be like this. Since Adeline clarified that she doesn’t want you to disturb her and Henry, shouldn’t you respect her wishes?”
‘Besides, she was the one who filed for divorce. She left with nothing, not even a single cent. Isn’t that a good thing for you?”
“Now, nothing stands between our family of three anymore…”
Before she could finish, a sharp slap landed across her face.
Gianna clutched her cheek, stunned. A ringing silence filled the air as disbelief flickered in her eyes.
“Are you insane? What did I say that was wrong?” she snapped, her voice rising with outrage. “Adeline was the one who wanted to leave; why did you hit me?!”
She bit her lip, the sting of humiliation burning through her. Yet, despite the pain, she couldn’t help but sneer.
“Besides, her son is already a fool. What’s the point of keeping her around?”
“My son and I have suffered enough. We finally reached the day she walked away willingly. Shouldn’t you give us a proper title now?”
Her voice trembled with grievance, but Felix remained unmoved.
Instead, his hand shot up, his fingers tightening around her throat. His brows drew together and his voice was laced with fury.%
“If you dare spout another word of nonsense, do you believe I won’t tear your mouth apart?”
His grip tightened as his cold gaze bore into her.
“Remember, there is only one Mrs Young in this lifetime and that’s Adeline. Don’t waste your breath coveting a place that was never yours to begin with!“%
Gianna gasped, clawing desperately at his wrist, but no matter how much she struggled, she couldn’t break free
The tension in the air was suffocating until suddenly, a child’s wailing shattered the moment.
