Chapter 60

In that moment, the entire hall fell silent, you could hear a pin drop. Even the air itself seemed to freeze.}
Bang! A sudden loud crash echoed through the room.
Gary roared in a frenzy, “No! That’s impossible! There must be some mistake!“}
Whispers broke out among the guests, “I thought Gary and Miss Parker’s marriage was a sure thing, turns out he’s just a clown.”} “Just now he was strutting around like he was about to be the Parker Family’s prized son–in–law. What a joke, just a pig trying to act like a noble. He’s nothing.”
“I heard the Osborn Family only got into the North England Top Four thanks to the Parker Family. In reality, they’re just some second–rate business. And this Gary? Always acting like some high–and–mighty aristocrat, he only got where he is because of Miss Parker! What a poser. He can’t even mooch properly. If I were him, I’d be too ashamed to show my face.”
Gary’s face flushed red, then turned pale, then red again.
He clenched his teeth and stared at me, “Rose, hurry up and tell everyone, it’s a mistake! You’re supposed to marry me!“}
I stared
back at him, expressionless. Even now, he still thought I would never leave him. That I had no other choice.}
I let out a cold laugh and said each word clearly, “There’s no mistake. The man I chose, the one I will marry, is Frank. It has nothing to do with you.”
“No… how can this be … You love me! You said you’d only marry me in this life. How can you marry someone like Frank, that pretentious creep?” He looked at me in disbelief, as if his entire world had collapsed.§
He cried out, “Did he seduce you? Did he come between us? Rose, Frank’s a pervert! He’s always spying on you, he’s had bad intentions from the start. Don’t be fooled! I’m the only one who truly loves you!”
I laughed mockingly, “Does our relationship even need someone to come between it? You humiliated me again and again for Mariska. You trampled on me. You threw away my ring. You destroyed the wedding dress my mother made for me. And you, have the nerve to say you love me?“}
With every word I spoke, Gary’s face grew darker. By the end, his face as pale as a sheet.
“The day you chose to go register your marriage and left me for Mariska, you lost the right to stand beside me.” I took a step back, ignored the panic in his eyes.}
“This is good. Since you love Mariska so much, I’ll grant your wish. I hope you two live happily ever after, locked together for life.” With that, I turned and walked off, holding Frank’s arm.
“No, wait… it’s not like that! I can explain …” Gary still tried to reach out and grab me.
But the bodyguards my father had stationed nearby stepped in. My father frowned and said coldly, “Mr. Osborn, that’s enough.”
Gary forced a dry smile, “Mr. Parker, please talk to Rose! She’s always loved me! Frank must have tricked her with sweet words, you can’t hand over the Parker Family fortune to a wolf in sheep’s clothing!”
“Enough!” My father had weathered decades in the business world, his single bark silenced Gary instantly. “I may be old, but I’m not blind. I can tell the difference between a man and a monster.”
Gary froze, afraid to even breathe.
My father said, “What you did to my daughter, I know all of it. Out of respect for how much she once loved you, I let it slide. But now, she’s made her choice. It’s over between you two. If you keep causing trouble, I won’t hesitate to shake the very ground the Osborn Family stands on.”
In the end, Gary was thrown out by the bodyguards. Humiliated and defeated, fleed under the judgmental stares of the crowd.
