I thought she would make a scene and get angry, but she just nodded calmly and said, “Perfect, I also have something to do today.”
Not long after Dayton left, Catherine also went out.
She went to the mall and prepared a gift for each of her best friends who she was going to meet later.
When they arrived at the meeting place, everyone opened the packaging and immediately exclaimed in surprise upon seeing that each box contained a brand new luxury item.
“Catherine, where did you find so many knockoff products? They look so authentic!”
“It’s all true,” she couldn’t help but laugh as she watched them being so fascinated. After explaining, she saw that they all had a look of disbelief, so she revealed her true identity, “Actually, the story I told you before about my father gambling and my mother being seriously ill was fake. My real identity is Catherine, the only daughter of a billionaire. I’m saying goodbye to you all this time because I need to go back home to inherit the family fortune.”
Upon hearing her say this, the crowd was initially stunned, shocked, and finally ecstatic. The screams were almost enough to lift the entire restaurant’s ceiling.
After the cheering, someone remembered Dayton and quickly asked, “But what about Dayton if you go back? Does he know your true identity?”
Mentioning Dayton, the smile on her face faded a bit, “He planned to marry someone else.”
“How is it possible!” Upon hearing this sentence, the best friends were filled with disbelief. “He was considered a rare wealthy and influential man in our
eyes.”
“Yeah, yeah. Three years ago, when you said you liked night–blooming cereus, he spent a huge amount of money to buy all the night–blooming cereus in the world just to make you smile. Two years ago, when you got infected with the flu, he canceled multi–million–dollar deals and rushed back from abroad to personally take care of you. He stayed up all night, afraid to close his eyes. And then, a year ago, when you were in a car accident, the truck was heading towards you, but he turned the direction to protect you. In the end, you were unharmed, but he broke three ribs and lay in the hospital bed for three months, almost not waking up. And now, he’s getting married. How could the bride not be you?”
Upon hearing her best friend talk about the past, Catherine still felt deeply moved. Back then, Dayton truly loved her to the point where he would give up his life for her. But now…
She shook her head and chuckled softly, “He loved me, but his family thought I wasn’t suitable for him. They pressured him to get married, and before I could confess, he had already printed the wedding invitations. From what he said, it seems like he wants me to be his mistress after marriage.”
My best friends exploded in an instant when they heard this.
“What? Lover!”
“Letting the daughter of the wealthy Franco family become a lover, they were truly crazy!”
“Okay, when the time comes, there will be his chasing wife’s crematorium!”
“Exactly, if he knew that you secretly left, wouldn’t his family go crazy knowing your true identity?”
Just then, Dayton and Jaelyn walked in from the door and frowned upon hearing their words.
“What is the true identity?”
Seeing them walk in together, the best friends were filled with indignation. Just as they were about to speak, Catherine stopped them and looked at the two who had just entered with a cold expression. “What are you doing here?”
When she asked, Dayton couldn’t help but feel a little guilty, his eyes wandering and uncertain. “The Franco Group and the Sellers Group happened to have a collaboration, so we arranged to meet and discuss.”
Listening to his answer, Catherine laughed. She knew, of course, about their collaboration, their marriage partnership,
Because they wanted to discuss “cooperation,” Dayton and Jaelyn did not sit with them, but instead sat at a separate table nearby, just far enough for Catherine to see their intimate interaction.
