t the hospital, just outside the patient ward, a serious–faced doctor stood before Natalie, explaining Jayden’s condition.
Jayden had a mild concussion and a fractured left leg, and he needed at least a month of rest. However, Natalie wasn’t really
listening.
“Ms. Carter. Ms. Carter?” The doctor called out to her a few times before she snapped back to reality and offered him a polite smile.
After the doctor left, she shifted her gaze to the glass window, staring at the man lying unconscious on the hospital bed.
“What a shame,” she thought. He didn’t die. Then again, perhaps a quick death would’ve been too easy for him.
Natalie quietly summoned the dormant system from the back of her mind. “System, just to be clear… do I have to kill the people who’ve hurt me for it to count as sending them to hell?
“I
The system responded promptly, telling her that as long as they received the punishment they deserved, the mission would be considered complete.
A slow smile crept onto Natalie’s face as she suddenly had the most fitting plan in mind.

Jayden came to in the evening and the first thing he saw was Natalie, who was asleep with her head resting on the edge of his bed. For a second, his eyes flickered, as if he were seeing the Natalie from a long time ago..
He’d been hospitalized as a kid too because he was ill. Natalie had been young at the time and couldn’t handle the strain, so
their parents had taken her home in the evening, promising her that she could come back to visit Jayden the next day.
However, Natalie didn’t want to leave Jayden; she’d secretly asked Charles to sneak her back into the hospital. So, when Jayden woke up, he’d found her sound asleep by his bedside.
At that moment, his heart had been filled with the same
warmth it held now.
Jayden forced himself up and slipped out from under the covers. Careful not to wake her, he lifted Natalie in his arms and placed her on the bed beside him.
He softly covered her with the blanket and, before leaving, lightly brushed her forehead, just like he used to, to chase her nightmares away.
But what he didn’t see was that the moment his eyes closed; Natalie’s snapped open. With a look of disdain, she wiped away the lingering warmth on her forehead.

Natalie spent the next few days in the hospital caring for Jayden. In front of others, she was the sweet and considerate younger sister who always looked after her brother.
But when no one was around, she quietly watched Jayden sleep like a hawk. Her mind raced as she ran through every possible scenario that might let her get even with him.
Unfortunately, he was never alone. Jayden’s bodyguards were keeping an eye on them 24/7. Natalie never found the chance before he was discharged.
Not long after Jayden’s discharge came his birthday.
Before the age of 14, Natalie used to put a lot of thought into his birthday gifts, and Jayden would appreciate them and
treasure them.
However, after Clara had come into their lives, Jayden would casually set aside Natalie’s carefully chosen presents. Even the most thoughtful gift had been ignored in favor of whatever
cheap trinket Clara happened to offer.
From then on, Natalie had stopped trying.
But this year, something was different. Jayden might have been reminded of the past because he kept dropping hints, clearly hoping she’d give him something meaningful again.

Initially, Natalie had no intention of preparing anything. If she did, it would’ve just been something random. But one day, she passed a traditional medicine shop and spotted a very interesting fragrance.
Hence, when Jayden once again asked if she had anything prepared for him, she flashed him a soft, sweet smile. “Don’t worry, Jayden. I’ve already prepared something special for you. I just hope you won’t be disappointed.”
