Chapter 14

Tristan’s driver was waiting at the hotel entrance. The black Maybach looked low–key but luxurious in the dead of night.
Tristan, like the gentleman he was, held the door open for Cassandra. Once she took her seat, he walked around the car and entered from the other end.
The car ferried them away from the hustle and bustle of the hotel.
Resting in the seat, Cassandra looked out of the window. The neon lights flashed across her face.
Sensing her emotions, Tristan comforted her. “It’s fine. Don’t overthink anymore. I’ve got your back.”
She snapped back to reality. Shaking her head, she forced a smile. “Oh, it’s nothing. I’m just feeling tired.”
The look in his eyes deepened. He assured her in a cold tone, “I will take care of matters at the event. If she dared to lay a finger on you, she needs to pay the price.”
After that, he called Liam and made the latter look for the security footage of Clara dragging Cassandra into the pool at the dinner.
Cassandra looked taken aback because she never thought Tristan would notice her sullen mood.
In truth, she felt much better after splashing the red wine on Clara as revenge, but Tristan’s protectiveness made her feel warm and fuzzy inside.
It felt good to be trusted and protected.
Everyone at the business dinner was waiting for Tristan’s arrival. Many had attended for a chance to meet him. They stole occasional glances at the entrance for fear they might miss him.
Aidan had planned to bring Clara to the hospital, but keeping in mind what his dad had entrusted him to do, he sent his assistant to the hospital with Clara instead.
He chose to stay at the venue, standing in the comer with a glass of champagne, occasionally looking at the entrance.
He felt a little irritated. At first, he thought he could use this chance to get acquainted with Tristan, but Tristan hadn’t shown up.
“Did we get the wrong news?” he mumbled to himself with a deep frownL
The other guests started to murmer as well.
“Wasn’t there news that Mr. Freeman had arrived? Why can’t we see him anywhere?”
“Yeah. Someone said he left with a woman.”
“A woman? That’s impossible. Mr. Freeman usually stays away from women.”
in the end, Tristan didn’t show up. Aidan went home, feeling disappointed.
At first, he wanted to meet with Clara, but his father, Barry Ziegier, summoned him home.
When he arrived at the brightly lit Ziegler residence, he found his parents already waiting for him.
“Dad, Mom, wtry aren’t you in bed yet?”
“Aidan, what’s wrong with you? How could you bring two women to the business dinner and have them fight each other?
“Great. Our family will become the butt of the joke in high society now!” Barry immediately chastised his son.
He had thought Aidan would mature over the two years, but the young man still acted without thinking.
One should always act appropriately. How could Aidan create such an embarrassing scene at a business dinner?
“Dad, it’s Cassandra who’s acting immature. She shoved Clara into the pool,” explained Aidan.
“Shut up. Think twice before you act in the future.” Barry cut off his son’s immature reply.
“Alright, darling, Calm down Clara is an innocent young lady of the Callum family. I met her before. Cassandra, on the other hand, is unreasonable.
“Anyway, Cassandra and Aidan will break up soon. It’s good news,” Beatrice hurriedly chimed in to lighten the atmosphere.
Barry grunged. His anger subsided. Then, he asked about his most–concerned issue, “By the way, did you meet Tristan Freeman tonight?”
“No. He didn’t show up. Maybe he was caught up in something.” Aidan felt regretful too.
“Well, if nobody met him tonight, we can only find the next chance,” Barry responded.
“Yeah”
Alden retreated to his bedroom after that with complicated feelings. Things seemed to have spiraled out of his control. Cassandra seemed dead set on leaving.
11that were the case, he wouldn’t make her stay. He’d let her run into trouble, and she’d crawl back to him for help
Alden wes condidem that Cassandra would beg to reconcile since she loved him so much.
Yes. He was very confident of that
The turat day, Cassandra washed up in the morning when she went to the dining hall, she saw a sumptuous breakfast spread on the table.
Tristan mulled when he saw bart. He invited her own. “Come have breakfast.”
She took a test at the during table. 13 was in awe of the serous talents Tristan sected to posersa.

Rumors had it that Tristan was cold and heartless, but somehow, Cassandra felt like the rumors were describing a different person altogether.
After she sat down, Tristan gave her a glass of warm milk. He gently said to her, “Have some milk to fill your stomach.”
She took the glass of milk and had a sip. Her body warmed up as the milk went down her throat.
Looking up at him, she asked, “Why are you up this early?”
“I just happened to wake up at this hour.” He didn’t confess that he was up early just to make breakfast for her.
Cassandra felt touched. She scanned the variety of dishes on the table–fried eggs, bacon, toast, fruit salad, and her favorite blueberry pancakes.
She gushed, “Tristan, is there anything you’re not good at? You’re even great at cooking!”
Amused, he arched his brow and teased her, “So, do you feel like you found yourself a gem?”
Her cheeks reddened. Taking a bite of the pancake, she offered a vague reply. “Yeah. I found a gem.”
When she was with Aidan, she always had to make breakfast. Aidan always waited to be served.
After breakfast, Tristan dropped Cassandra off at her office. However, she insisted that he drop her off at the intersection before her office, and she’d walk to work
She suggested the idea because Tristan’s car would attract much attention. Even his car plate was pretty unique in the city.
After the car pulled over, Tristan reminded her, “Call me if you need anything.”
She nodded. “Alright. You take care.”
Soon after, she arrived at work. At first, she thought she had been discreet enough, but someone spotted her getting out of Tristan’s car.
Clara stood at the company entrance and watched Cassandra get out of the luxury car, which shocked her.
She thought she had made a mistake, but upon closer inspection, she confirmed that the woman was indeed Cassandra.
Narrowing her eyes, she smirked. “Since when did Cassandra seduce that rich man? No wonder she’s putting on airs.”
The incident reminded Clara of the contact saved in Cassandra’s phone, Was the guy in the luxury car the same “Husband” in Cassandra’s contacts?
Clara was surprised at Cassandra’s ways.
She quickly pulled out her phone and stealthily snapped a photo of Cassandra getting out of the car. Alas, she couldn’t capture the car plate clearly due to the distance.
She planned to show Aidan that photo later. He’d find out just how much a disloyal slut Cassandra was! How could she flirt around before officially breaking up with Aidan?
Clara thought to herself, “Let’s just wait and see!”
