Chapter 15
Hector threw a grand banquet at the Yarrow residence. The manor was decorated lavishly with expensive paintings and sculptures everywhere. There were even white peacocks strolling gracefully on the grass.
Everyone who was anyone in Jerivale was present—all because Hector had spread the word about having an important announcement to make.
Hector stood on the second–floor balcony, a cigar flickering as he held it between his fingers. His expression was dark as he looked at the guests milling
about.
Lindsey showed up while holding Micah’s hand. An entourage surrounded her.
“Oh, my God! Look at how grand this whole thing is!” someone exclaimed. “As expected of the Yarrows!”
“I bet this will turn out to be a grand wedding proposal!” Lindsey’s best friend teased.
Micah heard her and cheered. “That’s great! I’ll finally be the Yarrow family’s heir!”
Lindsey held her chin up smugly, enjoying everyone’s compliments and flattery. She knew they were right—was there anything else that meant more to Hector than proposing to her?
Micah had slipped up at the restaurant, but thankfully, she’d managed to salvage the situation. Things were happening faster than she expected, but at least the outcome was what she wanted!
She grew even more smug at that thought. “I wonder what the ring Hector has gotten me looks like. I can’t wait to see it.”
“Mr. Yarrow is here!” someone announced.
The music abruptly stopped as the butler, Nelson Smith, gestured for Hector to make his appearance. The maids and attendants bowed and curtsied. The guests were astounded by the grandiosity of the situation.
Hector slowly descended the staircase, wearing an expensive Ivalian suit. The lights from the chandelier shone down on him, accentuating his chiseled features.
Many of the female guests blushed at the sight of him. When Lindsey and Micah noticed this, they stood with their backs straighter and heads higher.
“Thank you for coming tonight, everyone,” Hector said as silence descended upon the banquet hall. “I have an important announcement to make tonight.

Lindsey placed a hand over her heart and blushed. Meanwhile, Micah skipped on the spot, looking overjoyed. Then, he ran to Hector and threw his arms around the latter’s legs. “I know what it is! You’re going to propose to Mommy, Mr. Yarrow! You’re going to be my daddy!”
Lindsey smiled and lifted the hem of her gown as she elegantly approached Hector. However, he merely looked at the two of them coldly before saying, ” Nelson, send the video!”

The guests‘ phones pinged and buzzed as they received the video Nelson had sent. They started whispering among themselves after watching it, and they gave Lindsey odd looks.
“What’s going on?” She whipped out her phone and checked her messages. To her horror, she saw Micah’s forged medical records and reports!
The next thing she saw was footage of Micah and lan lying beside each other in the operating theater. She threw her phone aside and fell to her knees before Hector. “What are you doing, Hector? Are you trying to ruin me?”
Micah fell to his knees with her. He didn’t know what had happened, but he could tell from the pasty looks everyone was giving him that the video had to do with the things he and Lindsey had done.
“Don’t you love me anymore, Hector? Look at Micah, then! You adore him, don’t you? Are you going to ruin his life?” Lindsey cried.
Micah threw his arms around Hector’s legs and burst into tears when he heard that. “Don’t do it, Mr. Yarrow! Please!”
Hector watched them scornfully before kicking Micah aside. “Look at the wonderful son you’ve raised, Lindsey. He’s so young, yet he’s already adept at lying and hurting others. He even went so far as to dream of becoming the Yarrow family’s heir!”
He turned away. “Don’t even think of setting foot in the Yarrow residence from now on, both of you!”
The bodyguards instantly stepped forward and grabbed Lindsey and Hector to drag them out. When Lindsey realized she couldn’t break free, she started screaming at the top of her lungs.
“Why do you think I could do all of this, Hector? Do you think you’re that much better than me? You’re the one who lied to Noelle about being bankrupt, and you signed the bone marrow donor consent form! You’re also the one who instructed the medical personnel to extract Noelle’s blood!
“Without your power and influence, Micah and I would never have succeeded!” She smiled menacingly. “I’ll tell everyone what our city’s richest man has done, then!
“He pretended to be bankrupt, making his wife and child, who loved him with all their hearts, work tive jobs a day and pick up trash! He even torced his son to donate his bone marrow and extracted so much of his wife’s blood that she passed out!”
Everyone turned to look at Hector. He had a hideous look on his face, and lie trembled as he stood there.
Lindsey continued, “He refused to let his injured wife and child head to the hospital to have their wounds tended to, and he didn’t want to pay the ransom when they were abducted!
“Hector Yarrow, our city’s richest man, wasn’t even willing to fork out a few million dollars in ransom! He told the abductors to kill his wife and child! Isn’t that ironic?”
“Throw her out!” Hector barked. He waved at the bodyguards.
That didn’t stop the guests from whispering among themselves. It was easy to imagine what the next day’s headlines would be about and how Yarrow Group’s share price would plummet.
Hector clenched his fists, feeling angry. At the same time, he also felt regretful and guilty.
Lindsey had never loved him—all she was after was his money. But what about Noelle? Noelle and Ian had loved him despite him being broke, yet he’d hurt them so badly…
