Chapter 19
Noelle followed Hector back to the Yarrow residence, feeling cold all over as she looked at the opulent villa. It was nothing compared to the rundown old apartment they’d rented before.
She slammed the door shut and sat dazedly by the window until Hector knocked on the door and asked her to come out.
He was dressed to the nines, and he smiled gently as he handed her a bag with the Chanel logo on it. “I had someone wash and dry this, Noelle. Try it on. We’re going to an expensive restaurant later.”
Noelle sneered. “Lindsey’s the one who loves wearing Chanel, right? Expensive restaurants are what she enjoys, too.”
Hector stiffened, and his smile became forced. “Can we not mention her anymore?”
She knew how egotistic he was and deliberately taunted him. “What if I refuse to wear that? What if I insist on going out in my tracksuit?”
To her surprise, he merely looked at her and said, “That’s fine. You look good in anything, Noelle. Even in a tracksuit, you’re the most beautiful woman
I’ve ever met.”
She was taken aback. Then, she sneered to herself. It turned out Hector could go to such lengths for the people he loved. Yet in the past, he’d been utterly disdainful of her and Ian!
When she didn’t budge, he reached out to pull her into his arms. “You’re tired, aren’t you? I’ll carry you, then.”
He lifted her into his arms and strode to the car. Then, he placed her inside and gently buckled her seatbelt.
On the way to the restaurant, Noelle kept mocking him.
“You brought Lindsey here before, didn’t you? The shop owner is a nice lady, you know. She always gave Ian and me her cartons and bottles.
“You bought that ice–cream truck for Micah, right? Ian’s always wanted to try it.
“Do you remember the go–karts at the theme park? That’s where Micah rammed into Ian and me, making Ian get stitches.”
Her words were like sharp knives that stabbed Hector in the heart. All he could do was force a smile until the pain was so intense that it became numb.
What else could he say? He was the one who’d caused all of this to happen!
When they arrived at the restaurant, Hector sliced a steak before placing the pieces on Noelle’s plate. He also paid attention to her water glass and hurriedly refilled it whenever it was almost empty.
“My, my, I’m unworthy of enjoying such service, Mr. Yarrow!” she mocked.
Hector smiled bitterly. “I told you I’d make it up to you.”
Noelle raised an eyebrow. “Make it up to me? What for? Do you think you can turn back time? The scars you left after everything you did won’t fade with
time.”
He bent down to undo her napkin. “I won’t make it up to you, then. I’ll compensate you. I’ll pay you back!”
He held her hand. “Coine on. Let’s go home. There’s a good show waiting for us tomorrow.”
A sports car pulled up outside one of the hospitals under Yarrow Group. Noelle didn’t struggle as Hector carried her inside. He strode to the end of a corridor and opened a door. “Look, Noelle.”
Her eyes widened when she saw the people inside. “You’re insane, Hector!”
Lindsey and Micah were bound to electric blood–drawing chairs, and their mouths were sealed with tape. Lindsey’s face contorted viciously when she saw Noelle, and she started struggling with all her might.
Hector put Noelle down and ripped the tape off Lindsey’s mouth.
“Noelle, you bitch! Let us go!” Lindsey screeched. She was nothing like her previous elegant self. “You’re a shameless bastard, Hector! All I did was lie to you and take some of this bitch and her bastard child’s blood and bone marrow! They didn’t die!”
The tape sealing Micah’s lips was also ripped off. He wailed and cried, “Please forgive me, Mr. Yarrow! Mommy was the one who did all of this It has nothing to do with me!”
“You little shit!” Lindsey spat at him. “You’re just like your asshole of a father!”
Hector watched them indifferently and waved. Four medical personnel came into the room with thick needles and several empty blood bags.
“What the hell are you up to, Hector? Are you going to kill us?” Lindsey looked disheveled with tears all over her face.
“Extract blood from the adult and bone marrow from the kid. Don’t stop until I say so,” Hector said.
The medical personnel nodded and got to work. Hector added, “Switch to the other arm when this one runs out. Keep extracting as long as they’re alive.”
He wrapped an arm around Noelle’s waist and nodded in satisfaction when he saw Lindsey and Micah scream in horror
Noelle shoved and punched him, wanting him to get away. “You’ve gone nuts, Hector! Let go of me, you psycho! Lindsey and Micah didn’t hurt you- what right do you have to do this when lan and I haven’t complained?”
He looked at her with heartache. “I know what you mean, Noelle.”
He waved, and the medical personnel stopped. They removed the needles and disinfected Lindsey’s and Micah’s wounds with familiarity.
He unbound Micah and lifted the latter by the back of his collar. Then, he threw him at Lindsey and sat in the chair Micah had vacated. “It’s my turn.”
