Chapter 5
In the next moment, Cyrus fell to his knees, trembling as he cradled me in his arms.
As the Alpha King, he had never knelt to anyone before, but now he seemed to care about nothing else. All he could see was me, gradually fading away.
His arms trembled as he tightened his embrace, trying to hold on to me.
“Marina, you’re just pretending to be pitiful again, right? You’re not really hurt, are you?”
I wanted to reply to him, but I couldn’t. My mouth had already disappeared, and my shoulders would soon be gone too, so he couldn’t hold onto me anymore,
either.
Shaking his head in pain, he screamed, “Don’t die, Marina! You’re not allowed! I haven’t had the chance to see you in a wedding dress, nor tell the world that you were my Luna! We haven’t told each other we loved each other yet…
“Speak, Marina! Tell me everything, and I’ll believe you… Please, don’t die!”
Tears slid down Cyrus’s cheeks. He turned to his father, clinging to a final shred of hope. “Dad, you said to put her in seawater?”
His father looked at me with a pained expression, nodding heavily. “Go get her to seawater, right now!”
Cyrus dashed out with my broken body in his arms.
The pack had a research lab connected to the ocean, but it was already too late. I could no longer be saved.
“Don’t scare me, Marina… Why are you becoming so light…?” Cyrus‘ voice was trembling, as if he were on the verge of a breakdown. “You still haven’t told me the truth, so don’t leave!”
I couldn’t hear anything beyond that, my consciousness fading into nothingness.
