Cyrus placed me into the research lab’s water tank, watching me float on the water. My death was already inevitable, so even if I was placed into seawater, it only slowed down the speed of me dissolving into foam.
I floated there, my soul drifting out of my body.
I knew that in a few days, my soul would disappear, too.
Hovering above, I looked down at Cyrus screaming in anguish in front of the water tank.
He was the proud Alpha King, yet now he could do nothing about my
death.
It took Cyrus a long time to recover from the overwhelming pain.
“Mom, Dad, where did the merfolk take you? Didn’t they kidnap you? Were you hurt?”
Cyrus‘ mother had always loved me like her own daughter, so she couldn’t stop crying as she watched my pitiful end.
She raised her hand and slapped Cyrus‘ face as hard as she could.
“So you tortured Marina like this without even knowing the truth? Your father and I have never taught you to be like this!
“The merfolk didn’t hurt us! In fact, they’re the saviors of our pack! Marina even saved you, too!”
