Chapter 3
Vera trembled at the housekeeper’s commanding presence, and her hand shook, causing the bronze figurine to fall to the floor.
The housekeeper’s eyes narrowed as he wasted no time in rushing forward to catch the fish with his body, finally letting out a sigh of relief.
“You idiots, how dare you lay a hand on Miss Delmont? I’m going to report this to the old man. You’d better brace yourselves!”
The hands restraining me instantly loosened, and I collapsed to the ground, too weak to stand. The housekeeper, terrified, threw his phone aside and rushed to help me up.
“Miss Delmont, please, you can’t be hurt! My life is tied

At his words, Vera’s eyes lit up.
“Kevin, you’re Uncle Kevin?”
The housekeeper stiffened and cursed, but as soon as he saw Vera, his tone

changed.
“This bitch has the nerve to seduce my husband and claims to be some kind of auspicious star. Uncle Kevin, since you’re the Vanderbilt family’s housekeeper, you tell me—what exactly is she, a mere servant’s daughter, doing here?”
Kevin hesitated, his eyes flicking between me and Vera.
I tugged at his sleeve, gesturing for him to hurry and call Jim, but the next moment, his hands fell housekeeper here at the Vanderbilts.”
My heart stuttered.
What he said was true; my mother had been a housekeeper for the Vanderbilts. But I was truly Vanderbilt family’s fate!

Vera, hearing these words, was as if she had received a royal decree. The lackeys, who had been frightened by Kevin’s presence, puffed up their chests again.
“No wonder you’ve wormed your way in here. So you’re just a little housekeeper’s daughter.”
One sneered. “Probably bewitched the Patriarch for access to this villa.”
“Should’ve stuck to scrubbing floors,” another jeered. “Claire, you’re finished.”
They rushed forward like madwomen, taking out all their frustrations on me. They beat me mercilessly, and when they still weren’t satisfied, they picked up broken ceramic pieces and aimed them at my eyes.
“You’re always using those seductive eyes to lure men. I’m going to rid the world of this evil and gouge out your eyes!”
Fear surged through me as desperately turned my head, barely dodging the deadly blow. The ceramic shard scraped across my cheek, drawing blood, and I nearly blacked out from the pain.
Vera, incensed I’d dodged, slapped the wound, then kicked me repeatedly.
After she had finished, she shouted. “Ladies, this slut is always seducing men. She must be diseased. Let’s find out.”
I bit my lip, trying to stay conscious, struggling to crawl forward, but was quickly caught by these crazed women.
Amidst the laughter, someone pulled out their phone to record, while others trampled my head and tore at my clothes.
Vera preened under their adoration, nudging my broken form with her toe.
“Claire, Remember, this is what happens when you go against me!”
After saying that, she picked up another shard of ceramie.
To make sure you never forget this lesson, I’ll carve a ‘SLUT on your face. That way, even as a streetwalker, you’ll attract customers.”
With that, Vera grinned maliciously and bent down. I seized the opportunity and sank my teeth into her ear.
Vera screamed in pain, punching nie wildly. Just as she was about to press the ceramic shard to my throat, the door suddenly burst open with Wes’s voice. “Vera! This is Miss Delmont’s sanctum–who let you in?!”
