Chapter 20
On the other hand, when Ruben reached the rooftop of his company and saw Louisa standing beyond the guardrail, his eyes turned immensely cold.
“How dare you appear before me again?”
The last time they were abroad, Ruben and Estelle’s relationship would not have gotten so bad if Louisa had never suddenly appeared out of the blue.
Louisa just looked at him pleadingly and said, “Ruben, we still have two children together. Do you really not want me anymore?”
After going through so much, Louisa already knew that men were heartless creatures and couldn’t be relied on. However, she had been spoiled since childhood and had never had to work a day in her life.
After Ruben took her in, she never needed to learn any basic survival skills other than knowing how to spend his money. She couldn’t possibly live on her own, even more so, with two babies needing her care now.
She had no other way out. The only person she could go back to was Ruben. She could only beg for him to take her back in on account of the many times they’d spent together.
However, Ruben just laughed coldly. “If you hadn’t provoked anyone, Estelle and I would never have ended up like this! I wish I could kill you with my own hands. And as for your babies… They’re nothing but the Devil’s spawns. I don’t care about any of you, much less about your lives.”
Ruben’s disgusted words completely shattered that last bit of hope Louisa had been holding on to. She fell to the ground in a sitting position, her eyes full of desolation.
She didn’t have any hope to continue living anymore.
As she grew more and more in despair, her anger also began to surface. “Fuck you, Ruben Daye! Was I the one who ruined your relationship with Estelle? If you were really the saint you said you were, would I have then been able to seduce you and lure you to bed like I did?
“But since you’ve had your fun, you’re pinning the blame on me now? Did you really think you were that innocent all along? You’re a fucking bastard, that’s what! And that’s the only reason why you ended up with me!”
Ruben just laughed. Then, he cast her another glance, as if he were looking at a circus monkey and turned on his heels.
Before leaving the rooftop, he could still hear Louisa’s anguished screams from behind him. “Ruben Daye! You will forever never be able to get what you want! You will die a terrible death! You’re cursed for the rest of your life!”
Ruben just burst out laughing.
However, just as he walked out of the building, a few dark shadows whizzed past him before striking the ground right under his nose, breaking open just like a watermelon that had fallen to the ground at full force.
There was a dull thud, and the figure cracked wide open, splattering its contents everywhere.
Blood splattered onto Ruben’s face, along with bits of gray matter.
Ruben froze for a good few seconds. After taking a closer look at the lifeless bodies before him, his face turned completely pale.
He didn’t know if he felt frightened or terrorized more.
Because lives had been lost, Ruben had to go to the police station to give his statement. After getting home late that night, he realized that the bodyguards at the mansion had all been drugged and tied up on the ground.
Apart from that, the surveillance cameras had all been destroyed, and Estelle had gone missing.
Ruben was at his wit’s end. He frantically shook his butler awake and questioned him about what was going on.
The butler woke up groggy after a few hard shakes.
“Mr. Ruben, it was Mr. Asher… He brought his men and barged into the mansion before abducting Ms. Bowman…”
“Asher Daye!” Ruben exclaimed through gritted teeth. He wanted nothing more than to tear him into bits right now.
Ruben immediately got his men to seal off all escape routes in the whole city, but it was too late. Estelle was already in a private jet on the way to another
country.
After flying for a full day, the jet finally landed in a small town.
Asher had arranged for someone he knew to meet with Estelle and pick her up from the airport before helping her settle down in that very same town. “It’s been five days. I believe we’ve already taken care of all the necessary steps. So, why are you still here?”
Asher froze. This was the eighth time that Estelle was shooing him off.
“…I was going to wait until after you’ve familiarized yourself with the place…”
“I’m already very familiar with this place, so it’s none of your concern anymore.”
Estelle locked the door, about to head out to the restaurant nearby for lunch. “I’m grateful to you for helping me out, but since I saved you in the past too, we can just call it even. But of course, if you need it, I can still treat you to one last meal before you go ”
Asher lowered his head, rather disappointed. “Do you… hate me?”

Estelle smiled. “I thought I was already making it very clear.”
She no longer wanted to have anything to do with the men from the Daye family anymore.
Asher smiled bitterly. “I’ll leave in the evening.”
“Have a safe flight.”
