Chapter 10
I faintly tugged at the corner of my mouth, as if I had already guessed her reaction.
After returning to the camp, my former colleagues came over to gossip with me.
“Was that handsome guy just now your boyfriend? He came all the way to see you, it’s true love indeed. Unlike my boyfriend, as soon as he heard that I was going abroad for assistance, he immediately broke up with me and found a younger girl.”
“However, why didn’t your boyfriend come back with you?”
I quietly put away the lunch box on the table and casually said, “Not a boyfriend, but an ex–husband.”
My colleague was stunned for a moment, then didn’t ask any more questions.
Soon, I put this matter out of my mind.
Two years later, I was able to return to my country because of a chance opportunity.
Now I have a deeper and higher understanding of the whole medical field, and this time my boyfriend, Enrique Jefferson, came back with me.
We met on the platform, and there was a big explosion during that rescue.
I fainted on the ground due to overwork and exhaustion, which led to hypoglycemia.
Just as I was about to be blown to pieces, at that moment, a figure rushed out and firmly protected me underneath.
I was fine, but Enrique got injured in the leg.
I felt guilty and chose to marry him, promising to take care of him for the rest of my life.
At first, I did indeed have the intention of taking care of him, fulfilling his ideas and being with Enrique.
Gradually, as we spent more time together, I gradually saw my true feelings.
His gentleness, his tolerance, his deep affection and understanding gradually warmed my cold heart.
I found that I seemed to have the ability to love again.
With the help of a colleague, I truly accepted him from the bottom of my heart, and we became a real couple, promising to stay together until death do us part.
I think, maybe it was God feeling sorry for me being alone, so He specially brought fate to my side.
So this time, I will definitely cherish this fate.
On the day I returned to my country, Garrett from the former Central Hospital personally came to the airport to pick me up.
He looked at me with a satisfied expression on his face.
“You’ve lost a lot of weight, Elianna. You’ve been working hard outside these past two years.”
The ordinary words of comfort hit me hard in the heart.
I held back the sourness at the tip of my nose and opened my arms to hug Garrett.
Just a few steps away, i saw Freddy leading the boy.
He didn’t know where the news came from, but he actually came to the airport to see me.
But in just two years, his changes were quite significant.
His beard was unkempt, his eyes were bruised, and they were filled with bloodshot veins, no longer as delicate as before, but with a lot more vicissitudes. There were also many more white hairs on his head.
It was obvious that Freddy had been having a hard time in recent years.
After hesitating for a moment, Freddy ultimately did not step forward, retracting the hand he had been about to reach out to touch mine.
I just looked at her expressionlessly.
Enrique beside me noticed something and took my hand, interlocking our fingers.
Chapter 10
“Elianna, isn’t that your ex–husband over there? Do you want to go over and say hello? He seems to have something to say to you.”
There were obvious hints of jealousy in the conversation.
My vinegar bag boyfriend, possessiveness is still so strong.
I looked away and shook my head gently.
“There’s nothing to say.”
“What’s more, I already have you, what is there to say to him?”
From the moment I left the full moon banquet, I was already estranged from her, and there was nothing more to say.
Being coaxed by me like this, Enrique finally dispelled his jealousy and pulled me into his arms, kissing me fiercely.
“Elianna, I love you so much!”
I lowered my head and chuckled, “Me too.”
Then I withdrew my gaze, turned my head, and got on the car.
The car had not gone far when I received a message from Freddy.
Over the past two years, he has been sending me messages intermittently, but I didn’t have a domestic phone card, so naturally I didn’t receive them.
And just one minute ago, a message was sent with only three short words.
“I’m sorry.”
My fingers hesitated on the screen for a long time, then I deleted and blocked Freddy.
Later, I threw the broken phone card out of the window, just like I let go of all my unbearable and wrong past.
I never want to have any contact with him again in my life.
After doing all this, I held the hand of the person next to me.
The darkness dispersed, and from then on, there was a bright future ahead.
