After learning all of this, Celeste was stunned for a long time before she remembered that Chase had indeed appeared in her memories. Back then, she had simply thought of him as Damien’s friend and hadn’t given it much thought.
It wasn’t until hearing Chase’s confession that she felt touched.

Sensing her fragility, Chase reached out and gently clasped her hand, interlocking their fingers.
His warmth seeped into her palm, and her heart warmed up as well.
All she could hear was his gentle voice. “Don’t be afraid. Not all relationships need a perfect ending. If the love is gone, we just part ways. It’s no big deal.
He added, “Besides, you’re wonderful. You’re worth my love. I love you willingly, and you deserve everything good this world has to offer.”

Celeste stayed silent, but there was a flicker of emotion in her eyes.

Seeing this, Damien felt like his heart was being ripped apart. He stared at their interlocked fingers, eyes wide.
He yelled hoarsely, “Celeste, he’s completely wrong. Love isn’t about letting go. If you really love someone, you can’t be so generous. You would want to keep them by your side every second!”
He fought back his tears, but the bitterness in his heart was enough to drown him.

Celeste struck him hard across the face, her blow snapping his head to the side
“Damien, we’re divorced. I don’t love you anymore! Besides, I don’t agree with your idea of love at all!”
She added, “You don’t love me. You only loved yourself. Stop being affectionate and stop lying to yourself.”
Her expression was cold as she pushed him away with all her strength.
Chase immediately stepped forward to shield her.
His voice was cold as he warned, “Damien, Celeste is my girlfriend now. If you try anything with her, I won’t let you off the hook! The Tully family doesn’t play nice, and we have more power than the Ashford family abroad, so you better think twice!”
Not only that, Thomas and Eleanor also hugged Celeste tightly and glared at Damien.
“Damien, we may not be as powerful as the Ashfords, but if it comes to a fight, we’d rather die than let you take her! You and Celeste were never meant for each other. You’d better stop harassing her and leave. If we see you again, we’ll beat you!”
With that, Thomas and Eleanor grabbed their plates and hurled them at Damien without a care for appearances.
Damien didn’t dodge. He took the hits head–on.
The plates shattered against his face and sliced him. Blood began to well from the wound.
Even so, he stood there as if he couldn’t feel any pain and stared silently at Celeste.
