Chapter 74

Even though she knew the memories were just remnants of the past, and those beautiful moments would never return, Diana still found herself constantly recalling everything that had happened

How could those little fragments, etched deep into her soul, be forgotten so easily

In the darkness, she felt her limbs growing colder

Time ticked by, minute by minute. Diana remained frozen in place, utterly unmoved

Though spring had arrived, the nights were still chilly with lingering cold

She felt as if the blood in her body was slowly freezing over. In that state, her consciousness began to drift, and she fell into a vague, restless sleep

The next day, the weather was clear, with a bright sun and gentle breeze

Diana rubbed her arm, which had gone numb from resting awkwardly on the desk, and sighed helplessly

Previously, only one wrist had bruises, but now both wrists bore purplish marks

Not only that, but she could tell she had likely caught a cold during the night. Her throat ached terribly

It was dry, itchy, and burning. Waves of headache came one after another

She got up to wash up, skipped breakfast, and left the house

Although the Hendrix family had their inhouse doctor, Diana didn’t want word getting back to Jason, so she decided to go to a pharmacy

She also planned to stop by Citrus Bless along the way

Work couldn’t be neglected

She asked the driver to drop her off near a pedestrian street and walked the rest of the way to a random pharmacy

Ms. Gyleon?A familiar voice sounded from above

on her own to get some medicine

Diana turned around and slowly moved her gaze upward, past the man’s Adam’s apple and his sharp jawline, before finally landing on a strikingly handsome face. It was softened by a warm smile at the corner of his lips

It was Charlie Jackman

Are you here to get some meds? Are you feeling unwell?”

Realizing that this was a pharmacy, Charlie’s eyes were instantly filled with concern and worry

His gaze slowly moved downward and fixed on her swollen wrists

His expression changed instantly at the sight. Who did this?”

An oppressive feeling emanated from him in that instant, threatening to freeze the very air around them

Diana pursed her lips. He was the first person today to show concern about her condition

Even though he was just an outsider, her heart couldn’t

help but be overwhelmed with emotion

At that moment, everything from the previous day came rushing back to her mind

Strangely enough, Charlie had only spoken a few gen hit a breaking point

words of concern. Yet that alone magnified all the bitterness and grievances she had buried deep inside, growing bigger until it finally

Those negative emotions exploded like a beast that devoured

whole. She couldn’t hold it in anymore. Her emotional defenses crumbled in that very instant

She suddenly felt like she had been abandoned by the entire world, and the man before her was the only glimmer of redemption

Her eyes, nose, and chest all stung with sharp pain. Her cheeks flushed as if they were steaming, and before she could stop them, tears started rolling down her cheeks

As the first teardrop fell, it was like a broken dam. What followed was wave after wave of uncontrollable tears

Grievance was all she felt, overwhelming her

How could she not

During the two years Vincent disappeared, she lived in pain and torment. She endured many sleepless nights and couldn’t eat for days

She often felt like she was on the verge of breaking, spiraling into madness

However, her rational mind kept reminding her not to lose her mind or give up

Jason was getting on in his years. If Vincent truly never came back, someone had to hold up the massive Hendrix Corporationher

Her chronic stomach problems were born from that period of suffering, and so was her insomnia

Even her hair thinned out and fell out in large handfuls

She had even been diagnosed with mild depression
