Chapter 17
Alyssa’s face tumed pale, she had never imagined Terrence would learn the truth, yet she still reflexively denied it, “Terrence, what are you talking about? I didn’t say anything to Ms. Lundy.”
Terrence scoffed, his fingers digging into her jaw. “You’re still denying it? If I hadn’t seen those messages myself, I wouldn’t have known you were so two–faced- pretending to be meek and obedient with me but acting arrogant and superior when you spoke to Thea!
“I’ve warned you countless times, Thea is the only woman I have ever loved. You? You’re nothing but a plaything I keep around! You played a part in Thea’s death, and now you will pay for it!”
His hand shifted to her throat, his grip tightening as the veins in his arm bulged. His entire body seemed to radiate fury.
Terrified and desperate, Alyssa slapped Terrence’s hand, but he did not relent.
Alyssa gazed at the face she had once loved so deeply, but now, it filled her with pure dread. Her chest burned, her breath nearly gone, yet she forced out two ragged words, “T–The… baby.”
At the mention of the baby, Terrence instantly released her. She crumpled to the floor, coughing and gulping air, trembling with the relief of survival.
Terrence watched her, cold and unmoved. His only thought was erasing the child’s existence. Thea had died because of Alyssa. Now, every glance at her reminded him that she had cost him the woman he loved. Even the child she carried repulsed him.
But as Alyssa steadied herself, a grim satisfaction rose within her. Terrence’s earlier fury faded from her mind. Only one thought remained, ringing loud and clear- Thea was dead.
Blinded by jealousy, she had avoided the live broadcast of the lavish wedding and ignored all news of it. She never dreamed such a shocking incident had occurred. It was just a handful of taunting messages and suggestive photos. Who knew Thea would be so weak? Still, Alyssa had to be grateful. Her opportunity had arrived. She pulled herself up, tears glistening, and grasped Terrence’s sleeve in a desperate plea. “Terrence, I never wanted this. I just loved you too much. I couldn’t bear our child being born out of wedlock.
‘I never thought Ms. Lundy would kill herself over it. The news shattered me, too. But she’s gone now. Shouldn’t we look ahead? I’m still carrying your baby.”
She gently ran her hand over her still–flat stomach. She knew Terrence had always been protective of the child, and she assumed he had released her only to spare it. As long as she carried his heir, she was safe.
But she had miscalculated.
Terrence lifted his hand and patted Alyssa’s cheek, his gaze frigid. “I almost forgot about the child until you mentioned it. But every time I remember you’re the reason Thea is gone, I can’t stand to look at you. A child of yours would only sicken me.”
The venom in his voice finally made fear sink into Alyssa’s bones. She stumbled back, arms wrapping protectively around her stomach, her voice quivering. “Terrence, w–what are you going to do?”
He stepped closer, his voice a lethal whisper. “I’m having you taken to the hospital. That pregnancy ends today.”
He pulled out his phone and ordered his bodyguards to escort Alyssa out. Her breath hitched. She shook her head desperately, tears falling.
“No! This is your child, too, Terrence! How could you get rid of it?”
Her face twisted in despair. Terrence’s cruelty cut deeper than she ever thought possible. He didn’t care about their child.
Just yesterday, he had whispered against her belly, promising to teach their baby to say “Daddy” before anything else. Now, he was ordering it gone like it meant nothing
No, she wouldn’t accept this!
“He’s a living, soul, a child of our love, Terrence! Can’t you picture it? A little boy or girl calling us ‘Mominy‘ and ‘Daddy.‘ Wouldn’t that be beautiful?”
Alyssa knew Terrence hated emotional blackmail, but she had to try.
Yet, he remained unmoved, his gaze icy as he looked down at her. “Love? We only slept together. That’s all it ever was. My heart belonged only to Thea.”
