Chapter 31
“I’m sorry! I’m so sorry, Callum! I–I didn’t mean to!”
Brittany frantically grabbed some tissues, dabbing clumsily at the wet stain on Callum’s shirt. Her movements were panicked and awkward.
Callum looked down at the stain, then up at her anxious face.
“It’s fine,” he said calmly, his tone flat and unreadable.
“I’ll go change.”
With that, he turned and walked straight toward the private lounge.
Nadia’s heart skipped a beat.
Change? In here?
She instinctively scanned for a place to hide, but there was nowhere to go in the spacious lounge, aside from the large bed and the wall of neatly arranged clothes. Even the shower stall in the corner had a sleek, fully transparent glass design.
In her panic, she slipped into the narrow space beside the wardrobe, pressing herself against the cold cabinet wall and holding her breath.
The door hadn’t fully closed behind him.
Callum stepped inside and casually pulled off the coffee–stained shirt, revealing a sculpted back and arms, lean muscle moving smoothly beneath bronze skin that gleamed under the light.
Nadia stole a glance before quickly turning away, her cheeks burning.
She was guilty. Deeply guilty.
Callum reached into the wardrobe and pulled out a crisp black dress shirt, slipping it on with unhurried ease.
Just then, the door creaked open softly.
Brittany entered, her face still showing traces of fluster, mixed with a hint of deliberate shyness.
She didn’t speak Instead, she walked right up to him and wrapped her arms around his waist from behind, resting her cheek against his bare back.
“Callum…”
Her voice was soft and sugary, laced with affection and a plea of reassurance.
“Do you love me?”
Callum’s hand paused mid–button.
He didn’t turn around.
“Of course,” he replied evenly, as if the answer were obvious.
Brittany tightened her arms around him, burying her face even deeper into his back.
“Then why…”
Her voice trembled with confusion and a hint of hurt. “Why do you keep rejecting me? Don’t you… want me?”
The air seemed to freeze.
Callum didn’t answer right away.
Hidden by the wardrobe, Nadia could hear her heartbeat pounding wildly in her ears, so loud that it threatened to give her away.
Then Brittany spoke again, her voice laced with desperation. “I want to be yours.”
She reached for Callum’s hand that was still hanging loosely at his side, and slowly guided it around her slim waist.
Callum’s body tensed.
Then, he gently pried her hand away and turned to face her. “My marriage with Nadia isn’t over yet.”
His eyes were deep and unreadable. “Just wait.”
Brittany looked up at him, her eyes red–rimmed. Still, she nodded hard. “Okay.”
She sniffled, her voice calching with emotion. “I’ll wait for you, Callum. No matter how long it takes.”
Nadia’s lips curled with a trace of mockery. She could almost feel her ears rusting from hearing this.
Tot long ago, Callum had told her firmly that he and Brittany had never had anything between them.
Near
Yeah. Well, maybe that was about to change
A loud, urgent knock shattered the tense atmosphere of the room.
“Mr Ford? Mr. Ford, are you in there?”
It was julian’s voice – nervous and unmistakably strained
He’d just checked the outer office and found no one inside, which nearly gave him a heart attack.

He rushed over to knock, panic tightening his chest–were all three of them in there right now?
He banged on the door even harder, his voice pitching up in alarm. “Mr. Ford, the guest is here! The important guest has already arrived in the meeting room! She’s here! She’s already here!”
