Chapter 34
Nadia remained completely moved
Eventually, the Chisen tarily turned to darker tactsx sallying outside forces to try and seize het formula by force
Thanks to Samuel’s protection, she had narrowly escaped danger more than once, but the Chosens never gave up
I wasn’t and a mysterious organisation intervened that she was finally escorted sately back to Aurelia
Rumor had it that the group operated under the command of Obadiah Thales from the West, sworn enemies of the Chrisens
As the saving went, the enemy of an enemy was a friend.
Later, when Callam was in a car accident back home, she married into the Ford family to take care of him
As Not, she vanished completely from Faleria
The already arranged for someone to protect you in secret. Just try not to go anywhere alone for now,” Samuel said, his gare filled with concYNI
Nadia set her coffee down and walked over to the floor–to–ceiling windows, gazing out at the glittering city below.
“This is Seora. They wouldn’t dare act out in the open here,” she said calmly, her voice carrying a quiet confidence. “But they might try something during the Global Medical Summit”
“The mac And if they make a move, I’ll deal with it.”
Just as Samuel finished speaking, a knock sounded at the office door.
“Come in,” Samuel said, his voice deep and steady.
Sarah walked in, holding a thick stack of documents. She pushed up her glasses, looking visibly exhausted.
“Mr. Langner, this investment conterence is completely out of control! Every spot’s been filled for days, and we still have people clawing to get in, trying to squeeze through any back door they can find. What should we do?”
When she looked up and saw Nadia standing by the window, Sarah’s eyes lit up instantly. “Nadia! You’re finally bere!”
She tossed the files onto a chair and rushed over like an excited bird, throwing her arms tightly around her
“I swear, I’ve been drained these past few weeks. Samuel said I’d just be your deputy, but now he’s dumped half the company on me.”
She started complaining the moment she opened her mouth.
Nadia laughed and patted her back, her tone apologetic. “You’ve worked hard, Sarah. I’ll take you out for a good meal tonight. You still love meat fondue, right? 1 found an amazing place.”
“Nadia, you’re the best.” Sarah beamed and hugged her even tighter.
Samuel watched the warm exchange, a faint twinge of sourness rising in his chest.
He cleared his throat, cutting in before the reunion dragged on. “Sarah, head out first. Finalize the summit logistics as soon as possible.”
Only then did Sarah realize she might’ve overdone it.
She stack out her tongue, quickly gathered the documents from the chair, and darted out the door after making a silly face at Nadia.
Samuel stepped closer, his voice softer now. “Nad, why don’t you move in with me?”
Nadia was momentarily stunned. She looked up and met his deep, unreadable gare.
“It’s safer. I’d feel more at ease,” he said. “After what happened yesterday, I don’t want to see you in danger again. Who knows what tricks they’ll try next…”
He paused, then stepped closer still.
Reaching out, he brushed a loose strand of hair from her shoulder–a gesture so gentle, it held more meaning than words.
Nadia’s body tensed. She turned her face away to avoid further contact.
“Samuel, don’t worry. I can handle this. The Alice Initiative is going live,” she said.
Her eves held no hesitation, only unwavering resolve.
“Falveria’s government and Aurelia’s authorities have already reached out. We must capture Elvin,” she said, her voice firm and final.
“Nad, there’s no turning back once you draw your bow. Being targeted by Elvin means near–certain death. Should the fate of the world rest on one woman’s shoulders?”
Samuel nearly wanted to oppose the mission. He couldn’t bear to watch her dive into danger again.
The serum’s ready, and Elvin will hear about it soon. To protect civilians in both Falveria and Aurelia, we’ll follow through on what we agreed, and lure the battlefield to Martellia.”
Five years ago, this classified operation had been sealed by Bluebird Technologies and both national govemments–a global manhunt for Elvin. Her serum was the
bait.
Now, with her marriage over, Nadia had nothing left to fear.
Samuel absently ran his fingers over the omate cufflink on his sleeve.
“Then once the summit wraps up, we’ll return to Falveria immediately,” he said, voice low. “But the plan only proceeds it your safety is guaranteedTM
“Alright I’ll follow your lead. Samuel… I want to release a set of torrmulas at the summit.” Nadia drew a deep breath, like she was committing to something
