Chapter 23
“N–No… It didn’t touch me.” Luciana’s face was still flushed, and her voice had this soft, almost fragile edge to it.
Alicia–maybe out of curiosity or maybe just to stir things up–wouldn’t let it go. “So…. your first kiss is still intact?”
Luciana was at a loss for words.
Thiago pressed his tongue to the inside of his cheek and then cracked a wicked grin. “Why do you care so much, Alicia? Planning to steal it?”
Alicia raised her brow, unapologetic. “Whoever it is who wants her first kiss, they know it best in their hearts.”
Thanks to the husky’s chaotic entrance earlier, Luciana’s sketch tools had gone flying. She was now crouched beside the couch, gathering everything up. She was completely tuned out from their back–and–forth.
She had on a cropped T–shirt and denim shorts. When she bent forward, her pale lower back peeked out. She had a small waist, long legs, and curves in all the right places.
Thiago threw her a look, casual but lingering.
Alicia elbowed him. “Wipe your damn chin.”
Thiago ignored her. He just lifted his eyes slightly and called out, “So, the first kiss–still there?”
This time, Luciana definitely heard him. She whipped around, wide–eyed. “What did you just say?”
“You heard me, Luciana.”
She stared at him like he had just spoken another language. Why was he asking about something like that? Was there a rule that said she couldn’t draw a husky unless she was romantically pure? What kind of messed–up logic was that?
Clutching a pencil like it might shield her, she instinctively inched backward. “Yeah, it’s still there. I’ve never dated anyone…”
Thiago stepped forward, crouched down, and handed her an eraser. He had a half–smirk on his face.
“Never dated, huh? So, that means the confession didn’t go
well?”
Luciana’s expression flickered, and she was clearly caught off guard. She hesitated for a beat before replying stiffly, “Who said I confessed to anyone?”
Thiago just looked at her, his eyes unreadable. It was like there was something unspoken building between them.
After a moment, he stood up, offering her nothing but the view of the back of his head as he walked away.
Not long after, Luciana was seated in front of the drawing board, fully focused as she drew the husky in charcoal. The pencil in her hand moved like it had a life of its own. Her strokes flowed smoothly and effortlessly like drifting clouds, yet they hit the page with the force and speed of a
sudden storm.
As light and shadow danced across the paper, the outline of the husky’s furry body gradually took shape. Every strand of fur was captured with stunning detail, so vivid it looked almost touchable.
Thiago sat beside the dog the whole time, holding out pieces of jerky to keep it still and stop it from squirming or running around.
Meanwhile, Alicia leaned in close to him, a grin playing on her lips. “Feeling thankful yet? Maybe buy me a car when Altigo Group goes listed? For good luck?”
Thiago scoffed “Buy you a car? Sure. But you’ve got it all wrong–I don’t even like her.”
He must’ve said that louder than he realized because over at the drawing board, Luciana’s hand twitched, her pencil dragging a faint, off–track line across the paper. She quickly reached for the eraser to fix it.
He didn’t like her? He must’ve been talking about her. Alicia must’ve misunderstood something.
Feeling awkward now, Luciana picked up the pace with her drawing, wanting to get it over with. She would put as much distance between her and Thiago as possible after this.
Alicia frowned and leaned in again, still whispering insistently, “That’s bull. If you don’t like her, why’d you ride the bus with her? And now, you’re here in my house for no reason?”
Thiago muttered, “Maybe I’m just an idiot. Is that okay with you?”
Alicia choked on a laugh, then raised her voice. “Thiago, don’t tell me you’re trying to mess with the poor girl just because she rejected your confession!”
He leaned back, grinning like a menace. “Damn right I got turned down and I’m not even allowed to be pissed?”
Right then, Luciana’s 8B sketch pencil broke clean in half. Wait What? He confessed? To who? Monica?
Chapter 23.
That didn’t make sense. Weren’t they already dating?
