Chapter 21
Outside the emergency room, Zane and Steve’s features were pinched nervously. They were planning to distance themselves from Giselle, but she had gone and injured herself to save them.
“Zane, Steve, guess what I just saw in the surveillance footage?” A while later, Leon hurried over, disbelief written all over his face.
“What?” They looked up at Leon simultaneously.
“The accident was planned!”
“Who was it?” Their dissatisfaction toward Giselle disappeared when they recalled how she’d looked lying in a pool of blood. They felt for her.
“The driver got away, and they haven’t managed to atch him. But the guards found his phone at the scene. He sent a message to Cheryl. Take a look for yourselves.
The text to the familiar number read, “Ms. Jenner, I’ll get it done. Don’t forget what you promised me.”
“Cheryl?” Zane was frozen in place. He couldn’t think of anything else to say.
“No way. This can’t be real.” Steve tossed the phone away angrily, as though he wouldn’t have to face the truth if he didn’t look at it.
“I don’t believe it either, so I’m planning to question Cheryl. Do you guys want to come?” Leon couldn’t believe Cheryl would do this to them.
“Let’s go!”
Just as they were about to depart, the door to the emergency room swung open and Giselle was wheeled out.
“The patient is fine for the most part. She’ll recover as long as she gets some rest,” the doctor advised before leaving.
Giselle. Their hearts ached for how pale and drawn she was, lying there on the hospital bed.
lying there
The three of them looked at
Perhaps it was because she hadn’t been anesthetized heavily, Giselle slowly peeled her eyes open. When she saw the men around her, she smiled, joy reflecting subtly in her eyes.
“What a relief. All of you are alright.‘
Leon, Zane, and Steve were shocked. Even in such a condition, she was still worrying about them, Their determination to avenge her skyrocketed.
“Gigi, have a good rest. We found something related to Cheryl at the scene of the crime. We’re planning to seek her out and ask her about it.”
“Ms. Jenner?” Giselle seemed not to understand what this had to do with Cheryl. Her eyebrows were furrowed in confusion.
“This accident might have something to do with Cheryl.”
Eyes widening in disbelief, Giselle asked, “Why would Ms. Jenner do this to us?”
“Rest well. We’ll be leaving now.”
“Alright. Take care of yourselves. Don’t get hurt–I’ll be worried otherwise.” As though she were a little shy, Giselle averted her eyes.
Each of them patted her head and left one after another.
After they were gone, Giselle smirked coldly, looking at the door.
“Leon, Zane, Steve, go on and turn the love of your lives, Cheryl, into your newest enemy. Even better, cut her off entirely. Only then will my pòsition be secured.” Giselle pulled her phone out and texted the driver, reminding him to go into hiding and make sure he wasn’t found.
Giselle was overjoyed at the thought of the four of them lashing out at each other. It even seemed to alleviate her pain.
On the other hand, the three of them were barred from entering the Sterling mansion as always. This time, they didn’t stand there waiting aimlessly. Instead, they sent Cheryl a barrage of calls from different phone numbers and even threatened to drive straight in.
Annoyed, Cheryl came out to meet them. Of course, she was accompanied by Dylan and a horde of bodyguards. After all, Leon, Steve, and Zane looked rather maniacal. Dylan couldn’t be more concerned for Cheryl if he tried.
The second Leon saw Cheryl, he questioned, “Cheryl, do you hate us that much?”
Cheryl was flabbergasted. She had no idea what was going on.
“We’d only made a small mistake. Why would you kill us just for that? How about all those years we’ve spent with each other?”
Whenever Zane thought of how Cheryl had hired someone to run over and kill them, a suffocating feeling built up within him.
Steve exclaimed, “Cheryl, you’ve disappointed us this time!”
Before Cheryl could even say a word, she was being blamed for a huge crime.
“Didn’t I tell you guys not to harass me? What bullshit are you going on about now?”
