After hearing the words Bryce blurted in his drunken state, Yara felt a weight on her chest, but her heart no longer hurt.
She closed her eyes and sighed deeply. When she opened them again, she was calm.
Then, she slung her bag over her shoulder and knocked on the door.
A few seconds later, Bryce’s friends helped him out. After a few quick words, they helped him into the car and waved goodbye.
Yara drove Bryce home, and then she helped him into the villa.
He was too drunk to think straight. As soon as they reached the couch, he pulled her down onto it and refused to let go. Clinging to her, he called out for Yelena over and over.
Yara tried to pry his hands off her, her voice uncharacteristically firm.
“You’ve got the wrong person. I’m not your Lena.”
Bryce opened his bleary eyes and stared at her for a long time, then his grip on her tightened.
“I know you’re Lena. You’re mad at me, aren’t you? I’m sorry. I was wrong. I shouldn’t have gone drinking when you told me not to,” Bryce mumbled.
“But I was miserable. I miss you every day, and it hurts so much. Please don’t be angry at me.”
“I’m really not Yelena!” Yara said.
But Bryce didn’t even take her words seriously. He gently stroked Yara’s hair and pulled out his phone.
“Babe, don’t be mad. Look at the surprise I prepared for you. I designed this wedding dress and ring myself. They’re the style and sapphire you love the most,” Bryce said. “I started planning all these when I was 18 years old.
“Every time I look at you, I keep wondering how you’ll look in a wedding dress and if you would cry when I put the ring on your finger.”
Looking at the dazzling wedding ring on the screen and the ball gown studded with diamonds, Yara fell silent.
A flurry of emotions flashed across her eyes, and her voice came out low and hoarse.
“If you love me that much, then what does Yara even mean to you?” Yara asked.
“yara? She means nothing to me. If you hadn’t told me to marry her, I wouldn’t even look at her.”
Bryce was drunk out of his mind. After saying that, he held Yara tight and called her by Yelena’s name repeatedly. Again and again, he said, “Lena, I love you.”
Yara laughed softly and closed her eyes. Then, her tears began to fall..
