Chapter 15
Yara had known Yelena since their college days, and because she was on her own in Jedo, she valued that friendship more than anything.
Even after she developed feelings for Bryce and faced nothing but rejection, she still chose to keep Yelena as a friend.
However, Yelena didn’t treat her the same way. She used Yara as a cover, pushing her toward Bryce, who never really loved her, and let her suffer in silence. All those times when Yelena seemed to casually show off, Yara realized now they had all been on purpose.
At first, Yara thought maybe Yelena was just spoiled, but after she finally escaped that twisted environment, she started to see that everything had been planned to make her miserable.
Yara said coldly to Bryce, “From the day I left, Yelena and I aren’t friends anymore.”
Her words stung Bryce, and his voice grew sharp. “Lena always thought of you as her best friend. She worried about you every single day after you left and even begged me to bring you back! Is this really how you treat her, Yara?”
Yara stayed calm, her voice flat but cutting. “If she really cared about me, she would have come to see me when I donated bone marrow for her. She would have visited me, at least once, after I left. All I ever was to her was a prop so she could show off her relationship with you.”
Thinking about everything she had gone through, Yara gave a cold smile. “Don’t come looking for me again, Bryce. We don’t have anything to do with each other anymore.‘
She brushed past him and walked into the Spencer residence.
Bryce was too stunned to stop her and could only grab the arm of the man who was about to follow her inside.
“Who are you? Did you seduce Yara? She was never like this before. Why do you get to walk into her house?”
The man just smiled. Before he could answer, Peter asked, “Mr. Spencer, what would you like me to prepare dinner tonight for you and Ms. Spencer?”
Jason Spencer gave a faint smile in response.
Bryce was stunned. He had never heard of another son in the Spencer family. While he was still trying to make sense of it, Jason stepped forward.
“I was adopted by the Spencers. They kept it quiet for years. When Yara married you, they planned to announce me as the heir, but now that she’s divorced, things have changed. So, Bryce, what do you think I want more, the family business or Yara?”
The way the two of them acted together already made Bryce uneasy, and after hearing this, he finally understood. This guy actually had feelings for Yara.
Bryce frowned as he blurted out, “You’re in love with your sister? Does your family know? They would never allow that!”
Jason just raised an eyebrow. “And yet, you’re in love with your sister, but that’s okay for you? Yara’s divorced now, so she’s none of your business. Maybe you should worry about your sister.”
With that, Jason walked inside. Bryce tried to stop him but failed. All he could do was watch as Jason took his seat beside Yara for dinner.
The next moment, the front door closed in his face.”
Standing there, Bryce watched as Yara’s silhouette disappeared inside. A tightness in his chest made it hard to breathe.
He never thought Yara would have someone else by her side, let alone someone so open about taking her away from him.
He punched the door in frustration but got no response from inside.
A sharp, stabbing pain prickled his chest, like needles digging in.
Why did it hurt so much to see her with someone else?
Yare was supposed to be just a cover for them. If it weren’t for Yelena, he would never have cared about her at all.
But no matter how hard he tried to convince himself, he couldn’t get rid of the suffocating feeling that wrapped around him.
