Sydney to leave
Sydney glanced at the manager and sneered. “No need to escort me. Sharing a restaurant with lowlifes like you and Nadine makes me lose my appetite anyway.”
With that, she returned to her table, grabbed her designer bag, slung it over her shoulder, and left with her friends.
Meanwhile, Joanna was also having her dinner at Maplewood Residences. Unlike most women who suffered from severe morning sickness during their first trimester, Joanna was almost six weeks pregnant. She had experienced very little besides some nausea while brushing her teeth in the morning.
However, her appetite wasn’t great that evening, and she had only managed a few bites. The housekeeper, Janet, noticed this and asked, “Ms. Thompson, is the food not to your liking?”
Joanna smiled and shook her head. “No, the food is wonderful.” Just then, her phone buzzed twice with incoming messages.
She glanced at the screen to find two video clips from Elliot. Curious, she opened the
videos.
Both were taken at a restaurant. The first showed Nadine clinging to Jeremy’s arm, standing on tiptoe to kiss him; the pair looking every bit like a couple madly in love. The second captured Sydney confronting Jeremy and Nadine in the restaurant.
Joanna was both surprised and delighted when she saw Sydney in the videos. After all, Sydney was supposed to be abroad. When did she return?
She immediately initiated a video call with Sydney, who answered instantly.
“Sydney, when did you get back?” Joanna asked excitedly, overlooking her friend’s obvious anger and frustration.
Sydney shot her an exasperated look. “Why are you so excited? Do you know what I just-”
“I know,” Joanna interrupted. “Someone sent me the video of you throwing water at Jeremy in the restaurant.”
Sydney fell silent for a moment. Then, she said, “Where are you? I’m coming over.
Joanna gave her the address, and Sydney replied, “Wait for me. I’m on my way.”
With that, the call ended.

Chapter 15
Joanna raised an eyebrow, suddenly finding her appetite again. She finished a plate of pasta and two bowls of soup. Just as she put down her spoon, Sydney burst through the door.
Sydney tossed her at the half-
Tonto the couch and sat across from Joanna. Looking finished dishes on the table, she grabbed Joanna’s cutlery and started eating furiously. “Jeremy and Nadine are so shameless… Those two are enough to make me sick!”
Janet brought clean cutlery for Sydney, but she just smiled at Janet and continued using Joanna’s. Joanna caught Janet’s eye and gestured for her to bring Sydney another serving of pasta.
Sydney, who had barely eaten at the restaurant, was starving. She accepted the pasta from Janet and began shoveling food into her mouth without a care for her image.
Joanna served Sydney some soup and teased, “Slow down. The food isn’t going anywhere.” Sydney shot her an exasperated glare and continued stuffing her face. After finishing the pasta and finally satisfying her hunger, she slammed her utensils on the table.
With the air of an interrogator, she demanded, “Alright, spill! What’s really going on between you and Jeremy, that scumbag?”
