Chapter 32
“What’s wrong, honey?” Evelyn rushed over as soon as she heard the commotion, trying to calm Nadine,
Nadine’s face was twisted with rage. She spat, That bitch Joanna Thompson! Who does she think she is to threaten me? Does she still think she’s the prestigious daughter of the Thompson family or Mrs. Hansen?”
She scoffed disdainfully. “Without Jeremy, she’s nothing–not even worth a pile of dog crap.”
“Yes, yes, of course!”
Evelyn hurriedly rubbed Nadine’s back to soothe her, nodding in agreement. “Joanna is not match for you. Sure, you’ve spent Jeremy’s money over the years, but you’ve become the world–renowned Queen of the Cello.
Joanna? She’s nothing more than a housewife who cooks and does laundry. How
he possibly compare to you? She’s not even worth your pinky.”
Hearing Evelyn’s words, Nadine regained her confidence. Determined, she sneered and said, “I’m going to destroy Joanna and that child she’s carrying. She’ll never give birth to it.
“Exactly. If she has that baby, it’ll only make it even harder for Jeremy to divorce her.” Evelyn nodded in agreement.
“Evelyn, you have a way to get rid of the baby, don’t you?” Nadine grabbed Evelyn’s hand eagerly, her eyes full of anticipation.
Of course, Nadine didn’t want to dirty her own hands. If Jeremy ever found out, she wouldn’t be able to explain herself.
Evelyn nodded thoughtfully. “Let me think it over carefully.”
“I can’t wait any longer, Evelyn,” Nadine pleaded, gripping Evelyn’s hand tightly. “As long as Joanna is pregnant, Jeremy won’t divorce her.”
Evelyn frowned.
Seeing Evelyn’s hesitation, Nadine continued to persuade her. “Evelyn, trust me. Once I become Mrs. Hansen, you’ll be my greatest benefactor. Whatever I gain, you’ll have a share in it too.”
Evelyn’s doubt slowly disappeared under Nadine’s persuasion. She nodded. “Don’t worry, leave it to me. You just get ready to become Mrs. Hansen in style.”

Chapter 325
Joanna was about to have lunch at her apartment in Maplewood Residences. She initially planned to have Janet bring Joy up to the 38th floor to join her for a meal. She also wanted to discuss Joy’s plans for the future.
After everything the Holms had done to her, there didn’t seem to be any reason for joy to return to them.
At 22, Joy was fully capable, intelligent, and healthy. There was no reason she couldn’t live independently and support herself. If Joy was willing, Joanna was even open to having her
stay.
With twins on the way, Joanna’s belly would only get bigger and make it harder for her to move around. Having someone close by to assist her would be a blessing
Since Joy shared a similar plight, Joanna felt they might get along well.
However, before she could send Janet to fetch Joy, Joy herself asked to meet her. Joanna asked Janet to bring her up to the 38th floor.
When Joy stepped into Joanna’s apartment, she was immediately captivated by its elegant, tasteful, and warm decor.
Although the layout of the apartments upstairs and downstairs was nearly identical, the differences in design were staggering.
The 34th–floor apartment was already well–decorated, but it couldn’t hold a candle to the apartment on the 38th floor.
The 34th floor was where the maids and drivers lived, while the 38th floor was Joanna’s residence.
Jonna lived like royalty. Even though they were close in age–Joanna might even look younger their lives couldn’t have been more different.
