Chapter 37
Elliot stormed up to the 38th floor and poked Joanna on the forehead as he scolded her.
“My dear boss, can you please stop being so soft–hearted and playing the saint? You always end up getting stabbed in the back! It’s the classic story of the snake and the farmer.
Joanna nodded sincerely, accepting his criticism. “You’re right. I won’t do it again.”
“Promise me,” Elliot demanded, his tone firm.
Joanna nodded again. “I promise.”
Elliot gave her a sharp look before sitting across from her. “We have the product launch event tomorrow. Are you going to show up and shock these two scumbags?”
Joanna shook her head. “Eterna Group is still miles behind Hansen Group. Jeremy probably wouldn’t even bat an eye.”
“Who says that?” Elliot retorted indignantly. “Eterna Group has only been around a few years! And let’s be honest, Jeremy is only where he is because he’s standing on the shoulders of generations of the Hansen family,
“Mark my words, in ten years, Eterna Group will definitely surpass Hansen Group,” he declared, his confidence brimming.
Joanna smiled, nodding. “I believe you.”
Elliot suddenly narrowed his eyes at her, looking as if he had sensed something. “You’ve got a new idea, don’t you?”
Joanna hesitated briefly before nodding. “What do you think about Yvestone Co., the luxury brand from Belvoria?”
Elliot’s eyes lit up instantly. “What’s on your mind?”
“Yvestone Co. has been around for nearly a century, but it’s never really taken off. Its current market value is even lower than ours,” Joanna explained.
“That’s true,” he agreed, nodding. “But it has an excellent reputation and loyal customers. The key issue is that its marketing is weak.”
Elliot had always kept a close eye on competitors in the same industry.
“What’s your plan?” he asked. He knew Joanna wouldn’t bring up Yvestone Co. without a
purpose.
“I want to acquire Yvestone Co.,” Joanna said firmly, her gaze unwavering.
“What?” Elliot was stunned. “You want us to acquire Yvestone Co.?”

Joanna nodded, “Yes. We’ll use it to break into the International market.”
Elliot’s eyes widened, and excitement lit up his face as he slapped his thigh. “That’s brilliant! But acquiring Yvestone Co, won’t be cheap. At the very least, we’re talking one billion civis. We don’t have that kind of money right now.”
Joanna smiled slightly. “Leave the money to me. You just focus on making the acquisition happen.”
“A billion civis, and you’ll handle it?” Elliot gawked at her in disbelief, “What’s your plan? Getting investors? A bank loan?”
What Elliot didn’t know–and couldn’t possibly guess–was that Joanna owned the most prosperous pedestrian street in Clementson City.
Not just Elliot no one could easily uncover this fact. Long before the street had passed into her grandmother Vivian’s hand, it had already been placed in an overseas trust fund.
The annual profits from the street flowed directly into this trust fund, which was currently managed by Thomas.
Through the trust, Thomas helped Joanna manage and invest the money.
Joanna was not only the grantor of the trust but also its sole beneficiary, giving her full authority over how every penny was spent.
Over the years, thanks to the sharp investment acumen of Thomas, Vivian, and Joanna herself, most of their investments had been highly profitable. For every ten projects they invested in, at least eight turned a substantial profit.
As a result, Joanna now held shares in at least one–fifth of the Fortune 500 companies worldwide, both domestically and internationally.
All of this was conducted under the utmost secrecy. Every investment was made in the name of the trust, ensuring no one could easily trace it back to Joanna, the mastermind behind it all.
