Chapter 43
After a simple questioning process, the police officers led Nadine to the door with big
smiles on their faces.
Joanna had just finished giving her statement. She was about to get into her car when a Maybach G900 drove over.
To her surprise, Jeremy had come. She had no intention of meeting him. With one foot already inside, she quickly entered the car.
“Joanna.”
The last thing Joanna had expected was to hear Nadine’s voice from behind her before she could properly enter. She withdrew her foot and turned to face the latter.
Nadine hurried over and stopped in front of Joanna with an apologetic expression. “I’m sorry, Joanna. I had no idea Joy and her friends would pretend to work with me and. demand money from you. It’s all my fault. Are you okay?”
Elliot looked thoroughly disgusted by Nadine’s performance, his lips twitching in response.
Before Joanna could say anything, he spoke up. ‘Here’s some advice for you, Nadine. Don’t be too conceited and ruthless. Otherwise, you might not see what’s coming until it’s too late.”
Nadine’s eyes instantly welled with tears as she looked at Elliot, feeling sorry for herself. What did I ever do to Joanna? Why are you cursing me?”
Elliot raised an eyebrow. “The others might not have known what you have done, but the universe knows the truth, and so do I.”
“Oh, really?”
All of a sudden, a deep and icy voice rang out.
“Jeremy!” Nadine acted like a damsel in distress who had just seen the knight in shining armor. When she saw Jeremy getting out of his ear, she ran over and wrapped her arms around him like it was the most natural thing to do in the world.
Jeremy cocked his head and looked at Nadine, and his charming eyes were instantly filled with affection.
Joanna glanced at them indifferently and said to Elliot. “Let’s go.”
“Yeah. Let’s get out of here. They’re revolting.” Elliot nodded, holding the car door frame. to keep Joanna from bumping her head on it as she got inside.
“I heard that you incited Joy to slander Nadine again, Joanna,” Jeremy said just as Joanna bent over to get into the car. This time, he directly pinned the blame on her.

Joanna paused and chuckled gently at her words.
Elliot was upset, and he was about to speak up for Joanna. However, she stopped him. She turned to look at Jeremy, raising an eyebrow nonchalantly.
Then, she flashed him a smile and said, “Feel free to assume whatever you want, Mr. Hansen. I’m fine either way.”
Jeremy’s expression darkened as he stared at her. Flerce emotions roiled within Jeremy’s heart as he said sharply, “I warned you, Joanna Stop messing with Didi.”
“You did.” Joanna met Jeremy’s cold gaze calmly. “Go ahead and do your worst, Mr.
Hansen.”
With that, Joanna entered the car without another word. Elliot immediately shut the door before narrowing his eyes at Jeremy. Then, he chuckled and got into the car from the other side.
Shortly after, the car drove off into the distance.
“Jeremy,” Nadine called out gingerly. He had been staring at Joanna’s car.
Jeremy returned to his senses. The air he exuded was so overwhelming that it was scary. “I’m sorry for causing you trouble again, Jeremy,” Nadine said.
“It’s fine. Let’s go.” Jeremy pulled his arm from her grip and turned to leave. Nadine immediately followed him and got into his car. She sat next to him and glanced at him. timidly.
Jeremy leaned back against his seat, stretching out his feet. His eyes were closed, but his eyebrows were knitted tightly. He was extremely annoyed.
