“Is it about last week?” He asked while
narrowing his eyes, “You know I keep my professional life separate from personal life.”
His words reminded me of an incident that
happened a week ago. There was an important meeting going on. It was a chance for David to steal a very important client from Smith groups. So, everyone was instructed to be extra careful during the meeting. I was asked to represent our project to the client. Knowing the importance of the deal for the company, I was quite nervous while representing the project on the projector. My eyes often searched for David’s motivation and support. However, his expression remained cold. It was like I was just an employee to him. I even caught him chatting with Cinthia with a warm smile over his lips. while I was sweating in nervousness only

While the meeting was still going on, I saw David coughing a lot. He caught cold very easily. That’s why I was worried about hist health. I immediately poured a glass of hot coffee I had already prepared for him and walked up to him to hand it over. But as I walked closer to him, I felt a leg hitting mine. It was Cinthia’s legs who came between me and David for no reason, resulting in me loosing the balance and the coffee spilled all over the client’s shirt.
The Time froze at that moment. The room.
fell silent. All eyes were on me. Their faces were etched with shock and disgust. I felt like I’d been punched in the gut. My vision. blurred, and my knees buckled as I knew how important this meeting was for David.
“Oh no, I’m so sorry!” I whispered in an apologetic voice.
David’s face instantly turned red in anger as he yelled,“Rosaline, How can you be so clumsy at this moment?”

continued yelling at me,“How many times. do I have to tell you to be careful?”
The client looked up at my tearful eyes. He immediately stood up, trying to compose himself, coffee still dripping from his shirt as he said in a soft voice,“It’s okay, accidents happen,”
The client tried to ease the environment but David wouldn’t let it go. It seemed like The lost his mind. He wanted to compete
with Smith groups by stealing their clients at any cost and according to him I ruined

insulting me in front of everyone.
“You’re a liability, Rosaline,” he spat, his words dripping with venom. “A constant embarrassment. I must be a fool to let you work alongside me for this long.”
Tears streamed down my face as I watched my professional reputation crumble. Eight years of dedication, of hard work, of sacrificing my personal life for this her company… all undone in an instant.

“Get out, Rosaline.” David shouted in cold voice, “I don’t want to see your face right now. I should never have trusted you with this assignment. Cinthia could have done it better.”
I felt like I’d been slapped. My heart shattered into a million pieces. I gathered my belongings, my hands shaking, my vision blurring. As I walked out of the office, I heard David apologizing to the client by saying, “I’m really sorry for the incident. She wasn’t qualified enough for the job. She always makes me lose face. I hope you don’t mind this incident. She will not work on your project anymore.”
The laughter and snickers from the meeting room followed me out, piercing my soul like a dagger. The meeting continued and Cinthia took my place. David still failed to impress the client and failed to get the deal. The client made it clear that David’s project was not up to the standard they were looking for and it was David’s incompetence that made him lose

the deal but he and Cinthia took it out on me. According to them, I spoiled the client’s mood. That’s why they couldn’t get
the deal.
If I was really as bad in work as they portrayed me, why would the Client have walked up to me in the end and handed me a visiting card, saying, “You have a lot of potential, Rosaline. But, you are working for the wrong company. I’m really impressed with your presentation skills. I would like to offer you a job in my company if you ever think of leaving this one.”
Thinking of this incident, I smiled ironically and said, “You are right. You keep your personal and professional life very separate. I’m not skilled enough to work in your company. It would be good if I resign.
