I sincerely apologised to my father about my behaviour in the past and he said he had let that go a long time ago. I only realized now that It had always been me who had dwelled our family issue so long. When we sat together on the lawn, our chat abruptly turned into business chats. I almost choked on my coffee when Luke asked, “How has it been working with David, Rosaline?”
“Why are you asking?” I replied with a question. I noticed my father’s gaze was also fixed on me.
“Nothing important. I was just curious,” He replied in a casual voice before adding,
“I noticed his company grew really fast after you joined them.”
“Thanks for the complement,” I replied with a smile, trying to avoid their questioning gaze over me. I could notice. the curiosity in their eyes about my sudden

leave from David‘ s company. Luke noticed that I was not in the mood of
talking about David. So, he tried to change the topic as he said, “Well, you left David’s company at the right time. He is in a total mess right now.”
I placed the coffee mug on the table as 1 asked in curiosity, “Why? What’s wrong with his company?”
“You don’t know?” Luke asked before exchanging a glance with Dad. He then said in a low voice, “We thought you left his company because of the ongoing issue in the company.”
“I left his company because of personal reasons,” I replied flatly before asking again, “What are the issues you are talking about? As far as I know his company was doing just fine.”
“It was before Marcus’s interference,” Luke laughed, saying, “David just found out the moles Marcus had already set in his company to ruin him from inside out. We

all know how ruthless Marcus is. He finishes his competitors before they could even become the actual competitor. David is busy finding the moles in his company. But, the damage has already been made. and in the process of finding moles, he is only dismissing his trustable people. He is really in a mess.
“It happens when you put your faith in the wrong people,” my father commented. I chuckled. He was right. Only if I had listened to my father’s words earlier, I might not be in the state I was in right now.
“You have worked with David for eight years. You must have heard Marcus’s name, didn’t you?” Luke asked in a serious voice,
“Do you know anything about him?”
My brother’s question left me in a daze. I indeed met Marcus. To be honest, I could call myself lucky for the meeting he never honoured anyone with but to say how he was, I had no idea about it.
“I don’t know,” I said, “Too mysterious,

hard to trust.
Luke went silent for a while. He had placed his finger on his chin as if he was busy in some kind of thoughts. I couldn’t help laughing seeing him like that and asked,
“What are you thinking so much?”
“Nothing,” he replied, “Actually, I invited you for coffee outside for a purpose. Dad and I have decided something,
“What?” I chuckled, “You two aren’t going to get me married for some kind of business deal, are you?”
“Are you mad?” He chuckled, “I have just got my sister. I will not let any son of a bastard take you away from me. No way!”
Dad and I laughed at his funny expression. Dad then turned to me and said in a
serious voice, “Actually, these years I have been thinking a lot about your proposal. You were right. We should expand our business overseas.”
“Are you serious?” I asked, not expecting

my Dad to change this much in the past eight years. Maybe time really changes. everything.
““Yes,” he replied in a stern voice, “Luke and I have decided to let you handle our company’s overseas headquarters. You have lived in New York for eight years and you have managed David’s company really well in this time. I think you can do even better if you have all the rights for our
company.
Tears were formed in my eyes as I hugged my father, saying in a hoarse voice,
“Thanks Dad! Thank you so much for trusting me.‘
“Silly girl, if I will not trust my daughter, then who will I trust, my enemy?” He laughed while stroking my hair gently.
After breaking our hug, I turned to Luke as I said, “I have many things in my mind. To expand our business, we need to first collaborate with one of the popular multinational companies. For this, we need

to contact their CEOS and try our best to impress them. Do you have any names in mind?”
My brother smiled mischievously as he asked, “How about Marcus Smith, the mischievous and ruthless president of Smith groups?”
