“I’m not threatened,” I snapped. “But how dare you come back into his life after betraying him? You slept with someone. else, Vlanche. You hurt him, and now you have the audacity to show up here, trying to take my place?”
She laughed, a sound that grated on my nerves. “Oh, no, girl. I’m not the shameless one here. He’s the one who offered to help me,” she said with a dramatic sigh. “Does that sting a little?”
I clenched my fists, struggling to contain my anger. “You‘ re unbelievable. Your nerve is as thick as your face. I might just be his Luna, but that doesn’t mean I‘ 11 let you hurt him–or anyone else–again!”
Before I could say another word, Vlanche suddenly tripped and fell, bursting into tears like a helpless child.
“What the ?” I started, stunned.

Lucian rushed in, his face a mix of concern and anger. He pulled Vlanche to her feet and glared at me. “What the hell did you do, Freya? Stop being so immature!”
I stood frozen, disbelief washing over me as I watched Vlanche cling to him, her crocodile tears falling freely.
The slap of his words hit me harder than any physical blow. My heart twisted as Lucian cradled Vlanche like she was the most fragile thing in the world, glaring at me as though I were the monster in the
room.
“I didn’t touch her!” I protested, my voice trembling with anger and disbelief.
“She tripped on her own–ask her!”
But Vlanche only sobbed harder, clutching at Lucian’s chest as if her life depended on it. Her tear–streaked face peeked over his shoulder, her lips curving into the faintest smirk. It was so quick, so subtle, I thought I might‘ ve imagined it.

Lucian’s growl snapped me out of my haze. “Do you think I’m blind, Freya?” His voice was low, a warning. “You‘ re petty and jealous, and now you‘ re lashing out because you think you‘ re losing control.”
jeesh
“I don’t care about control!” I snapped, my fists clenching. “But I do care about the truth, and she’s lying through her teeth!”
ForVlanche sniffled delicately, looking up at Lucian with wide, tearful eyes. “Alpha, please don’t blame her,” she murmured, her voice quivering. “I know she feels

“You‘ re not going anywhere,” Lucian said firmly, his arm tightening around her.

trying to warn you, Lucian.”
“If you‘ re sorry then help her and make her feel welcome rather than hurting her. That’s not what you are, Freya. You have to respect my decision.”
And I can’t do anything but watch how she leaned her head on her chest, crying like I did something terrible on her, and I just watched and swallowed everything. I can’t let them stress me out while I’m pregnant and I just don’t know what went
wrong…
“It’s hard for me to stay here any longer.

There was a brief, suffocating pause before my father’s voice reached me, its calmness laced with the weight of centuries of power. “Just a little more.
