“You’ve got a strong child, Claire,” Dr. Reed said your baby managed to survive five years of freezing. She’s just as brave as you!”
I glanced out the window, the sunlight pouring in, and let his words sink in.
I had truly pressed pause on my life, frozen in time, only to wake up in a world that had
moved on without me.
A new life began. Even though my mind was fully awake, my body was far from ready. After five years of suspension, my muscles were weak and atrophied, and every small movement felt like an uphill battle.
Ever patient and kind, Alex Reed stayed by my side throughout the grueling process. He massaged my stiff limbs and guided me through the slow, painstaking steps of rehabilitation.
With his help, I went from barely rolling over to sitting up, then slowly learning to stand and walk again.
The day I took my first step, he was more ecstatic than I was.
Tears glistened in his eyes as he watched me move. His once–dark hair now had strands of
white running through it–a testament to how much time had passed and how deeply he cared about this experiment.
“Claire,” he said, his voice shaking slightly, “you have no idea how happy this makes me. This isn’t just a scientific breakthrough. It’s a brand–new beginning for you! Whatever happened
in
your past that brought you to this point, it’s all behind you now.”
I looked down at my round belly and felt a genuine smile spread across my face.
“Thank you, Dr. Reed,” I said softly.

right. The old Claire Watson Carton was gone. I was back to being Claire Watson
From that moment on, nothing would defeat me.
My recovery surprised even the doctors. Within a few months, I was walking like I’d never
been frozen in time.
On the day I left the lab, every researcher involved in the experiment gathered to see me on. Each of them held a bouquet, their faces filled with pride and emotion.
Some of the women wiped tears from their cheeks as they hugged me.
I waved at them, grinning. “Hey, it’s not like we won’t see each other again. If you miss me, just come visit!”

| Froze Myself Pregnant to Escape My Cheating Husband
I had decided to settle in Iceland.
This country, with its small, close–knit communities and breathtaking Northern Lights, felt like the perfect place for a fresh start. It was also where the new me–both literally and figuratively–had been born.
In the final weeks of my pregnancy, I found it impossible to sit still.

The joy of preparing for my baby’s arrival consumed me. Every small touch in the house felt like I was laying the foundation for a happy, peaceful life.
During a prenatal checkup, Dr. Reed revealed the baby’s gender.
“It’s a girl,” he had said with a warm smile.
There, I’d already chosen her name: Lily Watson.
I wanted her life to be touched by the magic of the aurora, always filled with light and
wonder.
“Claire, leave that! Let me do it,” Dr. Reed insisted as I struggled to lift a box.
Alex had stayed by my side ever since I left the hospital. He was kind, attentive, and eager to help with anything I needed.
I knew what he was hoping for–he wanted me to consider letting someone new into my life.
But I wasn’t ready for a relationship. Not yet.
As I stood outside, enjoying the crisp air, a noise in the distance caught my attention. It sounded like someone had collapsed in the snow.
Alex noticed it too.
“Wait here,” he said quickly, moving toward the figure sprawled on the ground.
“Are you okay?” Alex asked, kneeling beside them.
He patted the person’s shoulder, trying to rouse them, but they didn’t respond. Bending down, Alex helped them sit up, and as their face turned toward me, my breath caught in my
throat.
It was Ethan.
The world seemed to tilt on its axis as I stared at him, my mind reeling. I had never
imagined I’d see him again.
After bringing him to the hospital, Alex noticed my pale face. “Claire, are you feeling okay? You look a little shaken.”
I shook my head, swallowing hard. “Alex… do you know who that is?”
He frowned, clearly confused. “No. Who is he?”
“That’s my ex–husband,” I said quietly, the words feeling surreal as they left my mouth. For a moment, Alex froze, then gave me a small, knowing smile.

lane crash five years.
“Claire,” he said gently, “the old you died in that plane crash five years ago. You’re five years ounger now, remember? How could you possibly have an ex–husband?”
He was right.
The Claire that Ethan had known no longer existed.
The person I was now–and the man lying unconscious in that hospital bed–were strangers.
CLAIRE’S POV
There was no reason to reconnect.
Just as I was about to leave the hospital, a sharp, stabbing pain gripped my abdomen. A warm gush of fluid ran down my legs. My heart skipped a beat as the baby was coming.
Thankfully, I was already in the hospital, and with Alex’s quick thinking, everything went smoothly.
Lily was whisked away for a thorough medical exam right after she was born. The extra precautions made sense since she’d been a frozen embryo for five years. Alex insisted on being there the entire time, refusing to leave her side until the doctors confirmed she was perfectly healthy.
When Alex brought her back to me, his face was glowing with relief. He stared at us, his expression soft and tender–like he was a proud new father.
“Is Dr. Reed here?”
The knock on the hospital door caught us off guard. Alex and I exchanged curious glances, expecting it to be someone from the lab coming to visit.
But when the door opened, it wasn’t who we thought.
It was Ethan.
“Dr. Reed, sorry to bother you,” Ethan said, stepping inside hesitantly. “I just wanted to thank you for saving my life.”
His tone was calm and polite, but his entire demeanor changed the second he looked saw me holding Lily in my arms.
Ethan froze, his eyes wide, disbelief washing over his face.
“Claire…” he whispered, his voice trembling. “Claire… is it really you?”

Tears spilled down his cheeks as he stood there, completely overwhelmed. “Do you know
how long I’ve been searching for you?”
I blinked at him, keeping my face neutral and feigned confusion. “Sir, I think you have the wrong person. How do you know my name?”
Ethan’s breath caught in his throat. He wiped his tears quickly, studying my face with
desperate intensity.
“Claire,” he said again, shaking his head. “I’d recognize you anywhere. It’s you–I’m sure of it! I’ve replayed your face in my mind every single day for five years. I knew you couldn’t have
died. You wouldn’t leave me behind!”
Ethan moved toward me like he was about to pull me into a hug, but Alex stepped in, placing himself firmly between us.
“Mr. Carter,” Alex said coolly, “I think you’re mistaken. This is my wife. She’s lived in Iceland? her whole life. She just gave birth–please don’t disturb her rest.

I didn’t say a word, letting Alex handle it.
Ethan’s confidence wavered. His shoulders sagged as he forced a weak smile.
“Sorry,” he muttered, his voice breaking. “It’s just… I miss my wife so much.”
I
“My wife passed away five years ago. Every year, I come to Iceland to finish the trip we were supposed to take together.” He paused, his gaze lingering on me. “You look so much like her.”
With a broken spirit, Ethan turned and stumbled out of the room, leaving only the faint sound of his footsteps behind.
I focused on soothing Lily, cradling her in my arms as she cooed softly. After a long silence,
I looked up at Alex.
“Thank you,” I said quietly.
Alex shook his head. “No need to thank me. This was fate.”
He hesitated for a moment before adding, “I’d originally planned for your old identity to ‘die‘
here in Iceland, with your belongings sent back to your home country. But I didn’t expect the
plane crash to happen.”
He gestured toward Lily, a soft smile on his lips. “Claire, this is the universe giving you a
second chance. Everyone wants you to start fresh.”
I glanced down at Lily, who opened her eyes for a brief moment before smiling in her sleep.
Her tiny, happy face filled me with a peace I hadn’t felt in years.
After Lily’s one–month milestone, I took her back to Alex’s lab for a full set of examinations.
The results were nothing short of miraculous–my body’s cellular age was still the same as
it had been five years ago. The freezing process had left minimal damage, both for me and for
Lily.
With Lily’s safe arrival, the experiment was officially deemed a success.
To celebrate, I invited the entire research team to Lily’s one–month banquet at my new
home. But before the party, I decided to head out and pick up a few groceries.
As I stepped out of the lab, I ran into someone I didn’t expect–Ethan.
“Claire!” he called, rushing toward me. “I know it’s you!”
He grabbed my hand before I could move, his grip firm and desperate.
“Why won’t you tell me you’re alive?” he demanded, his voice cracking. “Do you know how
I’ve lived these past five years? I’ve missed you every single day!”
I tightened my hold on Lily and pulled my hand free from his grasp.
“You’ve got the wrong person,” I said coldly.
But Ethan didn’t back down.
“Stop lying to me,” he said, his tone low but steady. “I’ve already investigated everything.”
